Dear Neighbors,

At the last Town Hall meeting, this past week, Ken Rigsbee stood up and announced a CCHOA Candidate Forum on March 3, 2004, at Kiker.

Mr. Rigsbee informed the audience forum would be 2 hours, 1 hour for outside candidates (such as County Judge, Constable and County Clerk) and the second 1 hour for the multiple candidates, possibly a dozen or more, that will be running for the 5 Board of Director positions.

The election for the 5 new Board of Directors will be one of the most important elections in Circle C's history. It appears as though Ken Rigsbee and Jim O'Reilly are prioritizing the Circle C Political Action Committee over the CCHOA election. It's reported that Quentin Fennessy is being outvoted on this issue.

1. Myself and others believe Circle C needs the full 2 hours to hear the many candidates running for the 5 positions.
2. Ken also said the format would not allow residents to ask CCHOA candidates questions.

Take a moment to email Ken Rigsbee, Jim O'Reilly and the Info Center and tell them what you think:

Sal,

I don?’t know about point #2 ?– I?’ll ask the gentleman in queston; but as to point #1, there is a better opportunity to allow for longer than one hour if the outside candidates go first (since more than likely it will last more than one hour).?  I would prefer they not have to wait until we are done with homeowner business, and not have our business constrained by having them wait on us.?  (Having them wait on us would be too selfish and disrespectful of their time.)

I also don?’t want to have to pay for two separate meetings, it?’s costly enough!

Joyee,

This meeting should have nothing to do with outside races. Ken Rigsbee's ego stroking PAC should not take priority of our important historic business at hand. The residents need to hear from the many people that wish to represent us. One hour is not sufficient time.

Why do we as paying members of the CCHOA need to pay Kiker for time, for outside candidates to come in speak?

Why should someone running for dog catcher take time away from a potential Board member?

The election for the 5 new Board of Directors will be one of the most important elections in Circle C's history.

Don't bother

Sal

I appreciate your sentiments on this but I think that this situation calls for a different kind of response. The actions of Misters Rigsbee and O'Reilly effectively illustrate that their priorities are not what the neighborhood wants or needs. That they have hijacked the candidate forum and replaced it with their own political agenda should come as no surprise to anyone who has dealt with them in the past.

Nor should anyone be shocked at the hypocrisy which is implicit in such action. Remember, these two men spoke at the February 3 meeting against the by-law amendment which would have made director nominations from the floor the established procedure. Their reasoning? So that the membership could have the benefit of as much knowledge as possible about the potential candiates before voting on them. What better way to expose their own lack of candor and probity than to limit the only candidate forum to a one hour assembly in which no questions from the members will be allowed?

I have a better idea. Ignore them and VOTE THEM OUT.
