Summer Swim League/Team
The fact is that you still don't get it.
The summer swim program only has about 120 children in it. They are mostly 6 years old to 10 years old. They only swim about 2 months of the year- 2 hours a day, 3 to 4 days per week. They take up 2 to 3 lanes. They don't have to have the heater on because the water is warm enough by the time they start. They sign up in March, start practicing in May and swim six- (6) consecutive meets, which are over by July 1st.
It is a way to get kids to stay in condition, ie. exercise, after school lets out. It is great exercise for our neighborhood kids. In fact, some older people that live out here have their grandchildren come down for this time period...during the summer...so they can enjoy the team experience too! I think we only had 2 or 3 families that were allowed to swim with our team because they used to live in Circle C and moved elsewhere and did not belong to a country club and wanted their kids to stay in the Circle C Skimmers Summer Swim Program.
This program is not the year round program and all of the parents of the kids have to volunteer to make the program work. The parents do not get paid. The ''Head Parents'' do not get paid. All of the kids have to pay a nominal fee to join to take care of our League Insurance- yes we do have separate insurance for the team. It is Non-profit. We have a non-profit ID number. The money also pays for a party after the season, ribbons, medals, trophies, coaches salaries, etc.
The pool phone number was published along with the volunteer head parents names and their unlisted home and cell phone numbers so parents could call if they had any questions, ie. still having practice if it is raining? still having meet at Lost Creek if it is raining here?, and so forth. The pool number being posted on the sign up sheets had nothing to do with those parent's wanting to be known as having anything to do with the pool.
All Sal or you or anyone else has to do if you want to know about the Summer Swim League is call and ask. We do not take up the whole pool. We are not the Year Round Team!
