A Few Questions About Services
This is open to anyone,
Would a better system had been to pay per bag of garbage? I believe Upper Arlington has a system where you have to purchase stickers to place on your garbage bag or they will not pick it up.
That might have been an option and could have saved the residents who do not generate a lot of garbage some money. My neighbor at most generates one bag of garbage a week and it seems unfair for her to have to pay the full price to supplement the other families that generate a lot more garbage.
I do not believe that the Council even looked at this option.
Another option to have saved money would have been to have a central recyclables pick up point. The curbside recycling could have been replaced with bins down at the Village Hall and people could have taken their recycables there. That would have saved money for the residents. It would have placed a burden on people to get it to the bins, but it would have saved $4-$5 a month probably.
Again, I do not believe that the Council looked at that option either.
It seems that the Council is not investigating the options for residents. A little homework may have saved some of the residents money.
What are anyone else's thoughts? I see some options that the Council may not have looked into to save those that are on fixed incomes some money. The burden would have been placed on the homes that generated the most garbage.
Would you use recycling bins at the Village Hall if they did away with curbside pickup?
