Over the past 2 months, we've seen all kinds of vandalism and theft at our corner of St. Catherine. I don't know if it's the weather, the economy, or just a general turn toward meanness, but I'd like to hold it in check. Anybody out there interested in helping start a blockwatch? If so, email me or leave a note at this discussion: it's something that we all need to pitch in and do, because we're sliding into the very things that we don't want in this neighborhood. Thanks!

re: blockwatch
Would anyone be interested in participating in group walks at night, up and down our streets, a couple or three times a month?
Any other ideas are welcome, also. But, I agree with Michael. I learned in other residences, that the best way to curb vandalism is to make it vandals think they'll be seen. Always-empty streets and alleys are inviting, and the presence of residents, protecting their property is a great deterrent.

Blockwatch
I agree totally with both Michael and Jon, and hope to see many interested parties volunteer to ''make our presence known'' in our area. We'll need to pay special attention to weekend nights, as these seem especially dangerous. My son, Josh, has had 2 large air conditioning units stolen out of our carriage house recently (since July 4th), and I'm sure we're not the only neighbors experiencing an increase in theft and vandalism.
Let us hear from you if you're willing to participate! Thanks.
