Covenants
I think covenant controlled communities are worse than historic designations... People in coventant controlled communities have to watch what color they paint their houses also and are told where they can put a swamp cooler, etc.

Historic Designations
You get these types of controls with historic designations. Read the documents. You don't want more government, you want less. If you want to control how your neighborhood develops, you need to be involved as well as getting your neighbors involved. But, you don't want the government involved. Less govenment is the best government.

Historic Designation
Gerald, concerned neighbors heard some great experts on the benefits & drawbacks of historic designation on 8/11. You can plant any type tree or as many as you want. You can paint your house any color you want. They shared with us that you can put a second story on a bungalow. You can even scrap. The restrictions are that it must be done in a way that is compatible with the character of our neighborhood. Our next meeting is 9/8 at 7pm at the United Methodist Church at 1955 E. Arizona. Hope to see you there.

next neighborhood meeting
terry: i think the idea of historic designation is great for this neighborhod. i've lived here for 16 years and don't like what's happening.
i attended the august meeting but was unable to attend the september meeting. counld you possible summarize what happened at the september meeting and advise where this whole issue stands and if another meeting is scheduled. i think its sad that so many people are uneducated about this issue and wonder if the people opposed to the idea of historic designation really live here or simply make money in our neighborhood...
also there are two letters in the editorial section of the profile were really worth reading regarding this.
thanks, theresa
