Home invasion?

Posted in: Hickory Hills
I was recently told about a woman on Georgetown Dr who was at home alone and found someone in her house that had entered thru her garage. This invader was never caught because the woman left and called the police and before they could get there he was gone. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true or not? I live on Georgetown along with several of my friends and neighbors who are always at home alone with children and I am concerned.

RE: Home invasion?

I also live on Georgetown and have heard nothing about this. When was this event and how did you hear about it?

I'd sure like to know, too.

I'm single, too, in and out a lot of days now because my new job is close and allows me to work at home, if I want. I've gotten to where I don't even want to leave the front door open even if I do latch the glass part and I never leave the garage door up but I've never thought about them getting in that way, anyway. Yikes! I don't like to go to the pool alone, especially a night, either.
Those of you who are home, during the day, will know what I mean about the number of times strangers are knocking on the door selling something or wanting you to let them mow, landscape, treat termites...or say they are from a church...the list goes on...
I never knew how much it goes on in our neighborhood. You never know if it's a front for something far worse! When it starts getting dark early, I'm more concerned, too.
I don't mean the young Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts or neighborhood kids selling popcorn, wrapping paper, cookies, etc. I don't mind them a bit. It's the older teens and adults that I don't want to deal with.
I for one, put up a fence and got 2 alert, inside dogs. My dogs bark and act so fierce and anxious to attack that most just back away when I shake my head ''NO''. If someone wants to get in my house or get me at least it'll be a little more trouble for them!!
Let us know if you hear anything else about it. I guess we all need to watch out for our neighbors, a little more anyway!
What a shame! We have such a nice neighborhood.

This did occur

I did get the specifics on this occurence shortly after it happened and yes an intruder entered the young lady's house during the daytime and she spotted him when they both peeked around a corner out of different rooms. The scary thing is that she was keeping kids and I understand two were there when this occurred.

I also live on Georgetown and am single, but it certainly has to be more scary for the single moms / women. Why don't a few of us organize a quick block party, actually meet our neighbors, exchange some schedules and vital information, and really look out for each other. This is the only way we can truly help each other out, plus it would be nice to get to know each other as well.

Think about it folks, it's only going to get worse if you do nothing.
