As I continue to listen to the incessant barking from the dog next door I am frustrated with the dog?’s owners and Woodlawn Park's governing body. I believe that the residents of our city have made it plain; a Woodlawn Park noise ordinance is needed to stop this type of pollution. We, Woodlawn Park, are better equipped to prevent this type of abuse than the Metro Louisville police. I think it is time that the mayor and council stop passing the buck and help area residents with this problem. We need a noise ordinance directed toward irresponsible pet owners and neighbors.

I'm with you on this one Darlene. A simple citation from the Woodlawn Park Police Cheif would do some good for barking dogs. Then follow it up with a nice fine. By Bryan |

I agree
Not only barking dogs but neighbors who listen to music to loud inside or outside of their house. If the bass is loud enough it can be heard. |

Dogs are going to bark
Have you spoken to the owner? Perhaps you should ask them to keep their dogs inside when you're expecting to be at home and give them some times when it might be acceptable for them to bark (ie when you are at work, ball practice, shopping). If you're unwilling to work with them and give them some time for their dog to bark how do you think they're going to deal with you? I do believe there are more people with dogs in WP than there are without dogs, so be careful to speak for all of us before saying you think such an ordinance would receive all of our support. Nationwide, 43.5% of homes have a dog, 37% have cats. That's 80% of US residents with pets...again, don't speak for everyone just because you're having a problem with a neighbor. Of the 20 or so houses within my part of WP, 10 have at least 1 dog with several having more than one dog. |
