Rich, I hear you. Let's take it one step at a time. We are in for a change no doubt. Those that don't see it or don't get it, will. It's well past time to start knocking on doors and finding some motivated residents who want to meet at one another's houses and sit down break this budget down and form some committees of people to start working up solutions. We all know it's easy just to let things ride along as they are so long as we don't have to put our time into it. But, I'm not one to sit back and do that myself. We need to find others like you and me to work this through.

I have added a page that shows the budget and comparisons between 2008 and 2009.  It clearly shows the differences. Our assessment went up $20 a year. If you look at the budget comparison you see decreases in some areas and increases in others of course. What I think needs to be done is to break down each one of these categories and figure out why they are at a cost that they are and if there is any way the get it lowered.

One thing that stands out is the Landscaping Maintenance. It looks high to me but I have nothing to compare it to. I would like to get some other estimates. This is only one area that needs looked into.

Okay, so when do you want to go knocking on some doors? Let's pick a night and do it. I can get a list of residents from the county web site and we can check the list off as we go. What do you think?

landscape contract is shameful, someone was lazy in looking for a company or are getting a kickback.....i cannot imagine an educated person approving that budget.

do we have to buy more mulch to float all over the n eighborhod and kill all the plants?

also i was told there are drivebys -  if this is true i dont know what to say, this neighborhood looks bad, run down.........

i have an idea , lets continue to put good money after bad, i would also be interested in seeing the dates  and frequency of these worthless and fruitless drivebys

Awww, shucks,..thanks, Miko. I've been on a board before. I'm seeing the same stuff on this board that I saw on a previous board. No, I'm not ready to run again. Hah. They say I have to be a 'homeowner' here. Even though the bylaws say differently but, who reads and understands those. Miko, you run, I'll support you. Foot in mouth Heck, this aint no grief. I met you! And, others are starting to talk to me here. Laughing

Uh, oh, I hope our Vice President doesn't read this. He'll be all over you. Wink

I haven't heard or seen of this? Are you sure the mulch is killing the plants? I have heard at one of the past meetings where they had to replace the mulch though. Maybe they're shoveleng in too much? Money mouth

I think we agree on that.

We'll never see that list here. It's too secret, and shameful. Seriously, what would the legal ramifications be to post that list here each time? I know this is what the board would say why we cannot see it here. But, that's why the board pays for insurance but that's a secret too and not much is known about it. No balls, like I've stated somewhere else here.

Hi Rich,

I think bullshit on the neighborhood website might be a little harsh :-)

As for selective enforcement.....I completely understand what you are saying but think there might be a difference in what is considered priorities.  For example, I received a violation for my trash can being outside in from of my garage.....however, everytime I pulled into our subdivision I wondered if our Association noticed the huge crack that was growing in the front sign (since then it's been fixed....but now someone has spray painted a graffiti mark on it.

I also wonder if anyone has noticed my neighbor across the way that is supplying/ growing his own chickens for his restaurant.  If you doubt this, just listen every morning and afternoon for the rooster that crows.

I am thinking that either:

1.  Board members get complacent

2.  Maybe they get tired at having to be nasty to everyone all of the time

3.  Maybe they just have too much on their own personal plates to manage things.

BTW-Have you noticed the increase in "groups" of teenagers loitering around?

How about the empty cases of beer over in the walk area to the wooded area by the lake?  I think we have bigger issues coming our way that need to be addressed.  I'm very concerned about the potential for gang activity.

As far as your relationship with the President.....what exactly do you want him to do?  Have you made him a list?  (Seriously) Are the things you are picking out reasonable and truly easy to correct?  I would be interested in hearing about them.

I think that most of the people that live here care about the community but for various reasons are not able to contribute.  As far as their rights, they may not know the next steps to take.
