Public Schools answered
The theory of public schools is that everyone in town pays for them...when your kids or my kids graduate, then we continue to support the school systems.(why out of habit,
when a kid graduates from college do we continue to pay his tuition?)
And so on Also, most people who have moved here, did so for the school system. They are the ones with the disposable income that spend it in town on the local merchants.
(Thought patterns is erratic, what does a school system have to do with disposable income and merchants?) (for some people the quality of a school system is how many prop 2.5 overrides the town has passed.)
(The town of Conway Massachusetts has had 13 override attempts and passed 8 of them)
Good schools equals good property values because of the demand to move to a town with a good school system.(do you mean the property value, the price of homes, is a function of the school system?,yes a lot of overrides would increase the price of the homes, at least the valuations).
Frankly, if you don't want to support the schools, why don't you create a community with no kids - because no matter where you go, you will always have the school situation.
(I am advocating a system of school support very much college, pick and choose the school to send your child to, not a town or city supported system, free enterprise, like Thayer Academy though not as expensive or exclusive, like a charter school)
If the trend continues public education will be more expensive than private schools!!
With your mentality, why don't we each pay for the street lights in front of our own houses and why don't we all pay for the road maintenance on the roads we live on, including repair, snow removal, etc.
(hold on, don?’t misrepresent or insult me, separate town services are different from schools in my thesis, follow the discourse if you will)
And if a police officer or fire fighter needs to respond to your house or neighborhood, why don't we assess you and the entire neighborhood for that cost?( We do, all are involved in the common effort, and it was at one time a private service for pay, now tax supported)
The list could go on. So before you start talking about the families of school age kids bearing the entire burden then think about what it would personally cost you to bear the expense of all the services you have the benefit of from living in this town.
(two statements, the first: again an analogy, Your child?’s education is indeed your responsibility, I am suggesting an alternative to town controlled and corrupted by greed schools that we as parents have very little say in, the quality of the schools is much touted but are in fact failing in basics and fundamental principles, the proofs, the need for exit testing in order to graduate from high school!)
(second: the cost of town provided education has increased almost every year to the point that soon I/we will be bearing the expenses of all of the other services as an additional and separate tax!)
Not very smart. ( oh I disagree it is very intelligent)
