Opinion with the question ''do we ,America, Need an ABM shield for protection?”!It is obvious to those who have any sense at all that IRAQ will develop a nuclear device of some sort very soon!

Before they are able to do anything with it Israel will attack them! If the intelligence is correct they, IRAQ ,have some three hundred fifty separate nuclear development
areas and all need to be destroyed, most are hardened or under ground or in tunnels!

We have sold Israel specialized bombs to destroy under ground bunkers/installations and as of now Israel has the means to destroy or very badly damage the project! If Israel attacks and succeed the Arab world would be outraged to say the least!

After an attack what would IRAN do? They have missiles with adequate range to attack Israel but have not adapted a Nuclear warhead to the missiles ,a non trivial task! If the missiles are fitted with conventional warheads (high explosives)or germs and launched at Israel would they respond with Nuclear or in kind?

There would be an obvious escalation by both sides, how far would it go? Would IRAN attempt to draw us into the fray by attacking our troops in IRAQ, they are well within range,
and what would we do? How many countries besides Pakistan, India, N. Korea, soon to be Iran and Israel have nuclear devices? Whom would be the first to go nuclear and what would happen then??

My intent with the news was to draw out comments, not outright bluster of which I did receive enough. Come on, plot with me, tell me what in your opinion would happen next?

Here I help you. Iran is attacked and responds with an conventional missile attack against our command center in Bagdad. At the same time Iranian republican guard swarm across the border into IRAQ! The American Navy launches a wave of cruise missiles into IRAN and destroys their military bases and navel ports and we have a major war on our hands!!

While we are preoccupied N. Korea launches an attack with Nuclear missiles
at Japan and invades South Korea!

While we are also preoccupied China decides that the time is right and invades Formosa
and we send our seventh fleet into the South China sea!

Now gentlemen any thoughts?

Increasingly concerned about Iran's nuclear program, Israel is weighing its options and has not ruled out a military strike to prevent the Islamic Republic from gaining the capability to build atomic weapons, according to policymakers, military officials, analysts and diplomats.

Israel would much prefer a diplomatic agreement to shut down Iran's uranium enrichment program, but if it concluded that Tehran was approaching a ''point of no return,'' it would not be deterred by the difficulty of a military operation, the prospect of retaliation or the international reaction, officials and analysts said.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (news - web sites) and his top aides have been asserting for months that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a clear threat to Israel's existence. They have repeatedly threatened, in elliptical but unmistakable terms, to use force if diplomacy and the threat of sanctions fail.

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told the Yediot Aharonot newspaper last month that ''all options'' were being weighed to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons capability. The army chief of staff, Moshe Yaalon, declared: ''We will not rely on others.''

Iran presents ''a combination of factors that rise to the highest level of Israeli threat perception,'' said analyst Gerald Steinberg of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies.

''Nuclear weapons in a country with a fundamentalist regime, a government with which we have no diplomatic contact, a known sponsor of terrorist groups like Hezbollah and which wants to wipe Israel off the map ?— that makes stable deterrence extremely difficult, if not impossible,'' Steinberg said.
Israel's concerns are magnified by the fact that Iran already possesses the medium-range Shahab-3 missile, which is capable of reaching Israel with either a conventional or non-conventional warhead. Iran said this week that it had test-fired an upgraded, more accurate version of the missile.

Preemptive strikes have always been an essential element of Israel's military doctrine. Perhaps the most pertinent example is the air raid that destroyed Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Osirak nuclear reactor in June 1981.
Experts are divided, however, on whether that precedent should be viewed as a window into Israel's thinking on Iran.

''The comparison to 1981 is of the utmost relevance because the decision-making is based on the same factors,'' said army reserve Col. Danny Shoham, a former military intelligence officer who is now a researcher at Bar-Ilan University. ''Those are: What is the reliability of the intelligence picture? There would be some that got by.
The damage to America would depend on who and targeting!If China launched at us and saturated the shield we would take great damage!China would cease to exist as a country,total destruction for many years to come!We ,America, would be crippled and gradually would recover!Total loss of life for us would be hundreds of millions!We would be forced to move underground!If Korea where to attempt to launch missles in our direction I beleive they would be shot down and all Korean launch sites would be destroyed!The biggest danger would be our greatest enemy China,thanks to Clinton and company,they gave it to them!
