The City of Cambridge was incorporated on September 21, 1953. City Residents elect a Mayor and four Commissioners.
The benefits of being our own City include the ability to set our own City taxes and create City Ordinances. City Ordinances are enforceable by the City's Board of Commissioners.
The City also creates an annual budget and utilizes income to pay for sanitation pickup and road maintenance, which are the two major budget expenses.
Other expenses include minor landscaping and the costs to have a City Attorney, Mayor, City Treasurer, and Commissioners, all of whom are essential to the smooth operation of our City.
The annual budget and new ordinances are mailed to residents at the time of their passage. If you would like a copy of a particular Ordinance, please let us know.
City meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the old McMahan Fire Station (Now Jtown #2) on Taylorsville Road.
Typically there is no meeting in December and occasionally the Board of Commissioners will decide to cancel a meeting if there are no pressing issues to discuss. City meetings are always open to the public and we invite you to attend.
