CRIME REPORT; 11-29-10

 Good Morning! Here are some examples of calls answered over the weekend…

At about 12:35 P.M. yesterday afternoon, Officer Perkins was dispatched to a shoplifter call at a north side establishment.  Upon arrival he contacted a 51 year old female who had been detained by store employees.  Upon further investigation it was found that the female had concealed $137.00 worth of merchandise.  It was also found that she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.  She was arrested and transported to the Taylor County Jail.

At about 5:50 P.M. yesterday afternoon, Officer Harris responded to a disturbance call in the 2300 block of South 35^th.  Upon arrival he contacted a 34 year old male who had been in a disturbance with his wife.  After further investigation it was found that this male subject had assaulted his wife.  He was placed under arrest for Assault Family Violence.

Finally, at about 7:35 P.M. last night, Officer Joeris responded to a incomplete 911 call in the 2100 block of South 2^nd.  Upon arrival he contacted a 25 year old male who was yelling inside an apartment.  It was found that this subject had been in a physical altercation with his girlfriend.  When she tried to call 911 he grabbed the phone from her to prevent her from calling.  The male subject was arrested for Assault Family Violence and Interference with a 911 Call.  He was transported to the Taylor County Jail.

CRIME REPORT; 11-30-10

 Good Morning! Here are some examples of calls answered in the past 24 hours…

At about 11:11 A.M. yesterday morning, Officer Carroll stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of South Leggett for an expired inspection sticker.  Upon contacting the driver, a 39 year old female, it was found that she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest.  She was placed under arrest for these two warrants and transported to the Taylor County Jail.

At about 11:55 P.M. last night, Officer Valdez observed a vehicle stopped at a flashing yellow light in the 5000 block of South 7^th.  The vehicle stayed stopped at the yellow light for an extended period of time.  Officer Valdez stopped the vehicle as a traffic hazard and contacted the driver, a 21 year old male.  Upon contacting the driver Officer Valdez could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The subject performed the field sobriety tests and failed.  The male also consented to a breath test that showed he was over the legal limit.  An open container of alcohol was also found in the vehicle. He was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container.

Finally, with the Holiday Season upon us, we would like to take this time to remind you that while you are shopping it is best to place your items in the trunk of your vehicle or at least keep them out of sight.

Crime Report; 12/01/2010

 Good Morning! Here is your police report for Wednesday 12/1/2010…

At about 10:20am yesterday morning, agents with the Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 3400 block of Vogel. A quantity of cocaine was found inside the residence. A 23 year old male was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of Cocaine in a Drug Free Zone, and he was also charged with a local traffic warrant. 

At about 12:48 yesterday afternoon, Officer Montgomery responded to a loud music call in the 300 block of N Jefferson. He contacted the resident about the loud music, and a check revealed that this 40 year old male had outstanding traffic warrants totaling just over $1,500.00. He was arrested and charged with these warrants. 

Finally, at about 4:37am this morning, Officers responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 3300 block of Sherry Ln.  A citizen reported seeing a man attempting to break into a car in the area. The man ran away when the reporting party contacted him. Officers Poyner and Valdez responded to this call and located a man in the area that matched the description given by the reporting party. This 20 year old male was found to have warrant for parole violation and he was found to be in possession of suspected stolen property. Further investigation revealed that several cars had been broken into. The man was arrested on the warrant and also charged with Fail to ID, and the vehicle burglary investigation is continuing.

CRIME REPORT; 12-02-10

 Good Morning! Here are some examples of calls answered in the past 24 hours…

At about 5:45 P.M. yesterday afternoon, Officer Joeris stopped a vehicle in the 2600 block of North 1^st for running a red light.  Upon contacting the driver, a 31 year old male, Officer Joeris could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage.  The subject performed the field sobriety tests and failed.  A breath test showed that he was over the legal limit.  He was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

At about 7:08 P.M. last night, Officer Walker responded to a call of a possible drunk driver.  A citizen called in and reported this vehicle.  Officer Walker located the vehicle and stopped it in the 1300 block of W. Overland Trail.  While speaking with the driver, a 40 year old female, she admitted to having just two beers earlier in the night.  She performed the field sobriety tests and failed.  A breath test showed that she was three times over the legal limit. She was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Finally, at about 1:10 A.M. this morning Officer Jennings stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of South 11^th for failing to signal a turn.  The driver, a 47 year old female, had slurred speech and appeared to be intoxicated.  She performed the field sobriety tests and failed.  A breath test was provided and showed that she was over the legal limit.  She was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

If you plan to drink, plan for a designated driver or another form of safe transport, do not Drink and Drive.  Together we can make Abilene streets a safer place to drive.
