As I have stated in previous messages if a CRIME occurs in Woodlawn Park the victim should attempt to notify our Chief of Police as soon as possible.  It has been one week since the stalker/prowler incident happened, and as of this afternoon, 03-23-09, the incident has not been posted on the Metro. Police website.

I know having to call the Chief of Police after Metro. Police takes a report may be inconvient at times, but it is the quickest way to get information out.

Many of our residents to not realize that the Metro. Police are understaffed and officers are not being replaced as they retire, quit or get fired.  Information given to me is  that two (2) officers that ride this area retired last year and their positions have not been filled.  A retired County Police Detective told me that he was told that  District 8 which covers eastern Jefferson County, offices are in Middletown, sometims have only two (2) officers covering that area of the county.

I used to write crime reports for Snitch. It can take weeks for the reports to be processed and available, so, it really means nothing that you called and were told there wasn't a reporter. It may just be that the officer hasn't turned it in yet or it hasn't been processed for whatever reason.

As someone who has a young child and who has been letting her be outside a bit in the backyard by herself - with me watching from the window, of course - I really appreciate this. This guy wouldn't know I'm watching and even though I'm watching, it'd be really scary to have a weird adult scare you like that. Don't ever be sorry for asking questions.

To the mother whose child was involved:

Can you fill us in? Was the person identifiable? Some of the posts make it sound like he just jumped out to scare her - is this true or was he hiding and watching her and she saw him? Is there any chance this is a mentally retarded person who might not understand? (I doubt it - but somebody asked me that.)

Please don't take any of these questions as trying to devalue how scary this was. I'm just trying to get a feel for the situation and what to look for.
