I saw two young ladies walking a black dog and a Golden Retriever on Dorchester and Southampton today with totally disregard to where the dogs were urinating or defecating.  Shame, shame...

I took a walk through my lawn which my dog urinates in multiple times a day and noted their were NO brown patches.  Now when I had a much smaller yard I had frequent brown patches since my dog had to frequently urinate in the same spots.  The point is that occasional urine spread over a vast expanse of available green adjacent to the roads would have minimal impact overall unless the grass was particularly unhealthy to begin with.  The more important point regarding the other wild animals that cross our lawns is not that an individual is responsible for their urine but that their urine has no actual impact. 

Overall this post and subsequent responses are unneighborly at best and "publicly" outing neighbors in this blog is particularly nasty.  The smiling walkers, joggers, and bikers are one of the most welcoming aspects of our neighborhood and I will gladly accept them and their dogs onto my property along with all the other animals that I enjoy to do their business as they see fit because that is the neighborly thing to do.

And if you do feel this strongly otherwise, and I would suspect your opinion regarding dog urine is the exception and not the rule, a small sign stating "no dogs on my lawn" would be appropriate.

The original post is unneighborly?  The gentleman made a request; he even used the word "please" several times.  Quite frankly, I think your comments and your rush to judgement are tacky and totally unneighborly!!  THe subsequent responses were unneighborly?  How can you say that reba's comments about her objection to the owner who allowed his/her dogs to come far up into her yard into the planter bed is unneighborly.  How can you say that complaints about the 50% who don't even carry anything to pick up the poop are unneighborly? 

And I am at a total loss on why your snide chastisement of those who do what you call "outing" neighbors and your labeling of it as "nasty" are neighborly (according to your incorrect usage of the word). Your comments struck me as quite meddlesome and blatantly unneighborly  You speak out of both sides of your mouth Tonto.

And the most ridiculous part of your post is that this subject had sat silently for weeks with no ill will until you chose to be "neighborly" and stir the poop and all of it "ain't" dog poop. If you thought the whole post was anti-neighbor, why did you breathe life back into it again?  Oh, you were just being neighborly; I get it.  I think a large blank sign in your yard would be appropriate. 

People have a right to state an opinion even if they are unnecessary as yours.  You need a life...

And, you want to also check out "unneighborly" in the dictionary.  Actually an unneighborly person is who does not interact with the other people in the community.  Sounds to me like there were a healthy number of neighbors doing quite a bit of interaction.
