school registration

In school districts I have been in in the past were very simple. A month or so before school was out the school would send a paper home asking. ''Are the children in this home planning on returning to this school district next fall? Are the children in this home planning on moving out of this school district? Don't know? names of your children? Do you know of any new neighbor children that may be attending this school district next fall? Who?'' The kids could go to school for a fun event the Thursday before school started to an evening meet the teacher icecream social. Childrens names were matched with teachers and room numbers. Those were posted by the doors for students to access as they entered. For junior high and high class schedules were mailed out a few weeks prior to the start of school to give students time to change schedules. Bills were sent after schedules were finalised. This was a much larger school system than here. Symplified.

Detention for planers

Try a new student moving into the school district in the middle of January running from an abuse riddled father. Getting detention the third day of school for forgetting his planner. Just what are you teaching then? Don't get me wrong. I am very greatful for this school district. I know that my child has excelled in MUSC.

Ah, Yes.

The sidewalk issue is a pet peeve of mine. There are many, many neighborhoods in Muscatine that lack sidewalks. That there is no sidewalk on Cedar St. between Parham and the high school is an atrocity! As one who drives a bus, I can attest to that fact. Each day there are groups of students walking along this busy street engaging in ''horseplay'', pushing, shoving, etc. It's only a matter of time before someone is hit.
I guess that will have to happen before anything is done.
