I appreciate all of your sentiments. I shared them with my family; except for fyi2's opinion.
I skipped over that very hateful remark. I have enough contempt for that answer for all of us, no need to share it. I WAS attempting to put my sweet dog on her leash when she broke away. Thanks for your advice,,, though...doesn't bring her back. Your opinion was very helpful at this point of our life. :(

I grieve with you because I know how much a pet can mean to a family. I have seen dogs be so happy that they actually peed all over their owner. they love and want to be loved and you gave your pet that. It is a happy feeling to be able to run free and share the love that a family has given to their pet. But there are circumstances out there that can be hurtful and deadly and being hit by a car is one of them. You were devoted to your pet and your pet was able to bask in the love you gave to it. You need to remember the good times and know that your pet passed on knowing the love of a family.

Iam so sorry for your loss, I for one treat my pets as familey and its awfull when they go. I know its no help but you said he went quick and you were holding thats the most important. Again so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. I am the person who wrote about a month ago about our dog who is diagnosed with cancer. Our dog is still with us and doing well, but the vet doesn't think he will have more than one or two months left to live. He said we will know when it is time. In the meantime we are trying to enjoy him as much as possible. Your letter gave us some comfort. I hope it will help you too. Pets are so much a part of our lives. You will be in my thoughts.
