temp

Speaking of temp services. My contempt for them is so deep. If you go through a temp service, you are, and are treated less than a second class citizen. Been there done that. and you can't find a job in this town without going temp. Improve the town! Ban businesses from using temp services! Then maybe someone in the hierarchy might just begin to realise that you are a person. Then just it might make it just a little harder to lay you off. So maybe you can stay long enough to earn a decent wage. Worked one job here for $7 an hour. Overheard the boss and temp manager on how much they were saving on my job. last person that did it got $16. ten or eleven would have been fine with me. Oh in a perfect world...

to answer your questions,part 1

chosen - what makes me question the city is what the city will do and what they wont do. I believe Mayor O'Brien has served this town well, as has all the other elected officials. I just believe the ''younger mind'' needs to be addressed more by our elected officals, and with no age limit on that mind. Indeed it takes two to tango, so i say the ''younger mind'' needs to speak out!

zookeeper - sams club is def. out of the picture. i do agree with the skate rink though. That is a favorite past time of mine. It may not make a million dollars for anyone, but kids are always going to want to skate for birthday parties!

ruggy- i agree for sure. times have changed. if companies want to be family oriented they need to see that not only they need to make money, but the family worker does too. going to mexico just makes it easier for them to make more money. NOT FAIR!

chosen - AMEN! people depend on others to do something they themselves cannot do. lets expand the service's in this town.

mr.kopf - i myself try to shop in town as much as i can, but i do agree...some things you just have to go out of town for...should that be the case? i think not....theres enough money around that someone needs to take some initiative and put some of that ''QC stuff'' in muscatine.

TO BE CONINUED....

to answer your questions. part 2

tlou - thank you for the compliment. I see a lot of the wealthy putting some money back in this town, and that is great. Take the hotel for example. I praise the people behind the project. The Pearl gives the social people here in town to go and enjoy a peaceful night out, and not have to worry about smoking and that regular bar associations. It is the people willing to put the money up that are going to be able to help this town and bring what it needs to attract people from the outside in!
To make this town prosper....young voices...and action on those voices...not just hearing and putting on the back burner, but taking action on it!

mil- oh mil, how i so agree with you. I am 100% against temp agencies. Yes its a legitamate business, but how can a busniess in a town like muscatine justify going to a temp agency to hire an employee instead of doing it themselves...its all comes back to money. sure they still pay the 13 an hour(9 to employee, 4 to temp), but they dont have to pay that all mighty benefits package. its more ways to save money, yet sell prodcut for even more and pocket the rest!
