City election stuff

Regarding Henry Marquard's candidacy...
He was the first to complain to the Journal about possible campaign violations that turned out not to be violations.

He was the first to complain that the race was being politicized...but then was noted by the KWPC online news page on 11/07/07 as being a Democrat activist. Well...if the press labels you that; is it fair to note that his mere presence in an election is politicizing in and of itself? After all, he apparently is publicly considered a Dem activist.

As the Journal reports after the election, on the 7th, Henry Marquard failed to respond to calls from the Journal by press time. It seems press time was really important to meet before the election. A sign of irresponsibility?

And lastly, if the race did become partisan/politicized as Henry asserted, what message did he and Democrats just receive; looking only at the vast amount of votes he lost by? Looks like a tide has turned.

Congratulations to all who ran in the elections for exercising your civic duty rights.

well...

in fairness, I do have to point out I think we have an entirely republican council. Perhaps things have managed to stay so unpartisan for so long because it's always been that way. I also think Henry may have had a better chance if it weren't for the flier thing - that was just bad. I said absolutely nothing bad about Dick.

Congratulations to the winners, and thanks BB for congratulating us for running and doing our duty!
Re Count the votes !

Romer has it that poor old Henry wants a recount, simple as that!
