I can't believe...

...that you think a photo of a candidate standing in front of a fire truck actually swayed anyone to vote in their favor.
If you really believe that, you do not have a very high opinion of the voting citizens of this city. And, if so, I hope you stay away from politics.
I don't think many care what object candidates (of any political persuasion) stand near when their photo is taken.
This manufactured issue is really very foolish.

elections, Marquard, etc.

Overall, none of the campaigns got as ugly as last time. Marquard is a whiner, and somebody who hasn't yet realized that you don't make yourself look good by trying to tear somebody else down.

I do have a question, because I don't follow city elections too closely, but with a little over 1800 votes cast for mayor, how does this compare to previous elections? I don't really even know how many registered voters there are in the city, but that seems like a relatively low turnout.

anyone?
2003 and 2005

2003 mayoral race had 1819 votes.
2005 mayoral race had 1557 votes.

That's all that is available online.

I guess that surprises me

Is it apathy? Do people not really care enough to participate in city elections?

I thougt in a small town, turnout would be higher. Guess I don't know it all :)
