re: without looking

Daryl,
YI believe you would be correct --

I do own stock in AT&T wireless, the argument that the economy sucks just doesn't work. I've made more on dividends in the last 5 years than antime prior since I purchased back in 1999.
As far as I'm concerned, the Stock Market is the pulse of what the state of the economy's health.
The other topic I hear is that people are having to declare bankrupt due to all the outstanding debts they have. Once again, I don't buy it. It comes down to personal responsibility. Don't live outside your means.
The forclosure stuff is the same way. Folks getting talked into sales when they really cannot afford it.
I'd like to see a breakdown of how many of those loans were new in the past 10 years, how many are ARM's, how many were just too expensive to begin with, and how many were due to unforseen situations (death, health, change in job, etc). Break those numbers down and they would have a different story to tell. Lump them all together and yes, it would appear that the housing sector is in the pits.

GoHawks

and Orville, you both are sadly mistaken on my views. I'm sorry you can't discuss things as adults. This could have been a fun topic.

So, what's not adult? Orville and I happen to have opinions that differ from your's. I happen to believe that health care was better before it was considered by many to be an entitlement. By that, I mean before medicaid and medicare, which is to say before the Govt. got involved. Perhaps you are too young to remember? I'm speaking of the time before red tape, bureaucracy, and twenty dollar aspirin. Thanks alot L.B.J!
I'm not that old, (47) but that's old enough to remember when doctors made house calls at 5:00am when your child had a cold or the flu, then he sent the bill and you paid it! Imagine that! You didn't need insurance or the Govt. becauaese the bill was affordable. Why? Because the doctor didn't need to employ a staff of 5 to submit the reams of paperwork to the various agencies just to get a partial payment. Adult enough for ya?

Right on gohawks

I'm from the era of doctors that acted like they cared. They made house calls so we didn't have to sit in a waiting room full of sick people.
