Where at in the bay area? I just spent eight of the last ten years living and working in California and the last three were in San Jose and San Ramon in the bay area.

Who'da thunk we have something in common?

Worked all over the area. I was an engineering compliance consultant to Caltrans HQ in Sacramento, assigned to many large projects in the state, mostly the nine county District 4 Bay Area.

Added a lane to San Mateo bridge. Earthquake retrofitted the west span Bay Bridge and San Rafael/Richmond bridge. Built the new Carquinez bridge and demolished the old one. Built the new Benicia bridge. Tore down the collapsed Cypress Freeway in Oakland (earthquake damage) and built what is now Mandela Parkway. Tore down the 101 extension in the San Fancisco Mission district and rebuilt that. Put a flyover lane off the 101 into San Fran airport. Worked on 7 freeway widening projects in San Jose and finished the new light rail system there. Built a new fiber optics project from Santa Barbara to LA. Worked in Tahoe on I-80 projects at Truckee.

Widened or added car pool lanes to the 880 and 680 throughout the bay area. Widened the 101 in San Mateo. Just started the new Devil's Slide Tunnels project on Highway 1 at Pacifica, when I returned to the midwest area. In those eight years, I did not miss the snow and ice!

You are about the only one that would know what any of this means, lilsmom. Almost all traffic congestion relief projects.
