You're pretty much right OP.   The mayor does have veto power though but in the past that has probably done more harm than good.

I'd like to see the county go more in that direction too.   No reason why the treasurer, clerk and auditor have to be elected.   People with no training in those fields can run and be elected.   If they were hired positions, some knowledge or training criteria could be required.

I don't know how the small counties can justify those positions as full time either.

"...forced most new home building for middle class out of the City Limits."

I thought you posted that there have been no new housing starts in Muscatine; which I responded with facts about three I know of from just one contractor this year. Now you say "most"....Having a hard time getting your facts straight from post to post?

Now you say Muscatine has failed to grow...and yet the 2010 census gives us 42,745 citizens while the 2000 census gives us 41,722 citizens. What about facts is it that you don't get?

This looks to me like BS introduced the county population figures.
Those are not city population figures.

But if he wants to claim the title "idiot" it's fine with me.

I think it veered off when BS started on the population of Muscatine County.

Except that I didn't. The population of Muscatine county was introduced by the idiot. I never once spoke to Muscatine County population..You did ride the little bus, didn't you?

I'll just bring this BS post up to make sure people know what my last post refers to.   Please note that I did not use the word idiot.

You are correct.  I should have said square miles rather than acres.  But the proportions and relationships remain correct.
