NPRis running a article on the Hispanics of West Liberty, Iowa today; and its good, true and positive. It's a pleasure to see articles like this in writing. Its also very disappointing that local papers couldn't have been first with a story.
Perhaps we should go out and say it, the Muscatine Journal sucks. More interested in character destruction than news, more interested in anything negative than positive, and only wants to sell ads.
Let me state this also, West Liberty is by far the most positive and progressive community in Muscatine County and perhaps the State.
Time for our weekly look at the Journal to see how all of the character destruction is going, and how the negative reporting is selling more ads.
Front page....a big article about the Mississippi Drive corridor, another describing a 7,700 square foot half million dollar youth center proposed by the Louisa county Fair Board, and a story about a civil rights commission official. Browsing inside, some good coverage of some area veterans and the Honor Hunt, opinions page contributions from the left and right, articles about tuition breaks for military personnel, and a very nicely written article on former local Marcy Each and her music career. Sport page....a good mix of local, regional and national stories.
Try as I might, I still have problems finding all that negativity and the ad-selling mentality that Republifool keeps pointing to. Maybe he's been absent lately because he took me up on the West Liberty wager. |
