Staff cuts, hiring freeze hit Iowa state agencies

According to figures from state agencies and departments, the number of state employees is down more than 2 percent, or roughly 1,500 since last year. The level is expected to drop further in the coming months as an early retirement plan takes effect.

The decrease in the number of state workers is because of a combination of layoffs and a hiring freeze on all but essential positions.

That doesn't change the fact that all the items underlined are the result of government, either bigger or smaller.

Speaking of freeze, isn't it great that the greenpeace nutjob environmental whacknuts that went to the south pole to find melting ice for the purpose of proving global warming got stuck in.........ice.

What do you mean "invented"?    It's cold, and in some places record cold, and the air is coming from the North Polar region.
