If you're talking about MPW, they're not violating EPA or DNR limits.

And also it's the city that is spreading coal ash on the streets, not MPW.

Just had to call out the liar once again. you know, the one that bragged about having an higher IQ than anyone else here....

From the published May 21, 2013 Ia DNR Fine Particulate Matter Plan:

"The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) determined that three major sources of air pollution
in the Muscatine area significantly contribute to predicted (modeled) PM2.5 exceedances of the
standard in the vicinity of the Garfield School monitor. These facilities are Grain Processing Corporation
(GPC), Muscatine Power & Water (MPW), and Union Tank Car Company (UTLX)".

Sheesh, mallcontent...so much information at your fingertips and you continually set yourself up to fail.
Really? Not violating any limits?

June 27, 2013, MJ Online:

"According to Jim McGraw, program development supervisor for the
Iowa DNR’s air quality bureau, the three businesses identified as
the major sources of PM2.5 exceedences are Grain Processing Corp.,
Muscatine Power and Water and Union Tank Car Company".

Not violating any limits, huh?

It says that a standard was exceeded but not by any one named source.    Only that the three named sources were major sources.   There were obviously others.    If you want to blame one it's GPC.   GPC by far exceeds the output from MPW.    MPW has precipitators and scrubbers on its largest units.

By 3 named sources in the south end, dumbass.! You lose! Major sources. Your words, dumbass. I didn't say anything about blaming one, dumbass. You said MPW did not violate limits, dumbass! Yet two articles are all over MPW's exceedence and violations. Where the hell were you during these press releases?

"MPW has precipitators and scrubbers on its largest units".

And they still are listed as one of the three polluters exceeding the limits.

Ahh, I grow weary of trying to explain science and things like that and all I get in return is being called a dumbass four times.    I'll try to explain it using two digit numbers which I hope you can deal with.

Assume the exceedance limit is 50ppm.   If GPC emits 55ppm and MPW another 10ppm and Union Tank Car still another 5ppm.    The three are all "major" contributers but MPW and UTC did not exceed the limits.    GPC did.

While I'm at It I'd like to go through the nitrogen problem again.   One great scientist here discovered that some small amount of water flows from lake Huron (not Superior as he claims) into Lake Michigan.    He then implies that this throws off all the data about nitrogen in the Gulf of Mexico, and launches into his "dumbass" and "his he he he" mode.

He fails to realize the following:

1. It only happens a few days per year.

2. Lake Superior has very little nitrogen in its waters because there is very little agricultural activety in its watershed and only three cities of any size, Thunderbay Ontario, Duluth Minnesota and Superior Wisconsin.

3. The current carries most (if not all) of Lake Superor's water south through Lake Huron to Lake Erie and evetually to the Niagera River and on to the Atlantic Ocean.

Very little, if any, turns west to Lake Michigan.

4. There is a very small legal limit on how much water can be diverted from Lake Michigan into the Illinois River and on to the Gulf.

5. The amount of nitrogen that would get from Lake Superior to the Mississippi River system is statistically zero.

He then launches into his "dumbass" and "he he he" routine.

Some of this dissappeared while I typed so if it reappears, sorr, I didn't intend to overdo it.

Clean Air Act

Permit Type
The Clean Air Act (CAA), passed in 1970, created a national program to control the damaging effects of air pollution. The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 went further to ensure that the air Americans breathe is safe. The CAA protects and enhances the quality of the nation's air by regulating stationary and mobile sources of air emissions.
Major
NAICS Codes
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) has replaced the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. When available the listed primary NAICS code is shown.

SIC Codes
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes, as maintained by each data system. SIC codes were established by the Census Bureau to identify processes, products and services. Each data system has different criteria for incorporating this information (e.g., for EP313, the SIC codes are self-reported by the facility each year). When available the listed primary SIC code is shown.

Current Compliance Status No Violations
Days Since Last Inspection
The date on which most recent inspection of the facility took place. For the Clean Air Act, the date on which a Full Compliance Evaluation (FCE) was completed. This date may or may not correspond to an actual site visit. A series of partial on- or off-site inspections may have been conducted during the fiscal year as part of this FCE.
528
Inspections over last 5 years
The number of inspections/compliance evaluations that have occurred at the facility, under the corresponding statute, within the last five years. The last 5 years will include data from the 20 most recently completed quarters, plus data from the current quarter up until the refresh date. This count only includes inspection types that are counted as inspections in official counts.
3
Informal Enforcement Actions over last 5 years
Indicates the number of informal enforcement actions/NOVs that have been taken against the facility within the twenty most recently completed quarters (5 years). Notices of Violation are activities taken by EPA or the state that often precede a formal administrative or civil/judicial enforcement action. Not all notices of violation are escalated to formal enforcement action for a variety of reasons, including the following: the facility quickly corrects the problem(s) indicated in the notice, the violation is determined to be less severe than originally thought, or consultation between the facility and EPA or the state indicates that a violation has not occurred.
3
Non-compliant Quarters over last 3 years
Count of the number of quarters, out of the last twelve quarters, in which the permit or site is considered either in Non-compliance (NC), Significant Non-compliance (SNC) or High Priority violation (HPV) status. A quarter is any of the following 3-month calendar periods: January-March, April-June, July-September, or October-December.
