At what point?
At what point do you decide to end your support, Dusty?
You are defending someone that is clearly a danger to himself. He needs help... professional help. But what happens when he decides to endanger the lives of others when lashes out again. God help us when that happens. And honestly, shame on people like you for defending him.
It is time for him to go.

You Are Out Of Line
Sick and Tired,
Your comments,
''You are defending someone that is clearly a danger to himself. He needs help... professional help. But what happens when he decides to endanger the lives of others when lashes out again. God help us when that happens.''
are out of line. I saw nothing in the article, nor have I seen posted on this website, anything to indicate that Mayor Shaver has threatened anyone's health or life. It's disgusting that you would imply it.
You owe Mayor Shaver and all the readers on this website an apology.

Think about it
Listen up, Sick of Sick -
What is being said here is that someone that says, thinks, implies or writes that they are considering such a drastic measure likley needs some help. If the person making the statements the Mayor did in the newspaper were your child, would'nt you want them to get help before they hurt themselves?
Perhaps what Sick and Tired is saying is that if something should happen, someone else may be victim to collateral damage as a result. Please don't allow your loyalty get in the way of common sense. Your feelings admirable but your intentions could be called into question.

Not a Disability
Like Sick of Sick, I have seen nothing to indicate that our Mayor poses any kind of danger to anyone else. As to being in need of professional help, the Mayor has already sought such help. He regularly sees a psychologist, and he takes anti-depressive medication. He has done both for years and, ordinarily, they have kept him on an even keel.
Depression is a very common malady, and one that is very treatable. It is not disabling. Larry King suffers from it. So does Mike Wallace. It has not slowed them down. With just a little support and understanding from all of us, it should not slow our Mayor down either.
