What New School to Support?

Posted in: PATA
I resent this...

Bruce -

I am going to need to ask you to stop referring to the portables as ''double-wides''. This is demeaning and an insult to the children that use them each and everyday. What's next?? Are you planning upon calling the kids and teachers that use them, ''trailer-trash''?

These facilities are portables in each and every sense of the word. The cost to move them does nothing to define their name.

You need to think about the position for which you serve and start using some common sense.

No Insult Intended

I certainly did not intend to demean in any way the kids who have attended school in these things, whatever one wishes to call them, or the quality of the education these kids have received there. As I indicated earlier, two of my three daughters attended elementary school in these structures, my youngest for several years.

But doublewide trailers is what they are. If you lift up their skirts, you can even see their tires. They are not particularly portable, given how much it costs to move one of them, and the damage that typically is done to the structure in the process.

On the other hand, I quite agree with you that our school board needs to gather and objectively consider all the facts, and all the possibilities, in evaluating this alternative. I also have seen school districts link these things together to create hallways with common entrances. Gail Oakes, in fact, has suggested that we do this on several occasions.

It is an option we should consider, especially if the voters are unwilling to spend tax dollars now constructing new buildings. And it is one way, Central Dad, that the school board can begin to rebuild public trust. I think we're willing to spend tax dollars on good schools, as long as we know that those tax dollars are spent carefully, and are not wasted.
Once again....

Once again the conversation has spiraled down into bickering. Sorry Mouse if I started it. Sorry Mom that we seem to be the only ones with time on our hands. We can't save the world.

Mostly Bruce, sorry to again drag you through the mud that this district has become. I guess my time on here has come and gone. It truly may not be worth the trouble.

Heh, Heh, Heh

I notice you didn't respond to my point. Not so sure of yourself now, are you. Nothing like the truth to trip up the foolish.
