Yes

I am voting for the levy. I agree with Nobody - it is embarassing and unacceptable that our kids are taught in such overcrowded conditions.

I received a flyer on my mailbox and liked the way the cost per month and day was broken down for $150,000 and $200,000 homes, since there aren't many $100,000 homes in our school district.

I also appreciated the cost per pupil and administrator cost per pupil comparison charts. Although it doesn't directly address the ''what are they doing with the money?'' question, it does show that Pickerington schools are a good value for the money, and certainly the most economical in Franklin and Fairfield Counties.

Finally, I think they are trying to educate people as to what the money will fund, and what will happen if the bond issue doesn't pass. I think it's good to lay it all out so there are no surprises down the road.

That's my two cents.

For the Levy

Though I'm an empty nester, I plan to vote for the upcoming school bond levy as well. Not all the questions I posed awhile back have been answered to my satisfaction. But we clearly do need two more elementary schools.

The education of the children of this community is our responsibility, and I cannot deny the kids growing up now the opportunities that I owe to a good public education. Moreover, our schools are at the heart of this community. If they start to decline, so will this community.

The school board has not been everything that I might have asked for. However, they have replaced the Superintendent, the Treasurer, the architects and the construction manager who were responsible for the Taj Mahal disaster. Last week they also refused to renew the contract of the business manager who was responsible for overseeing that project. This took some guts, since she was sitting right behind them when they did it.

The new architects have clearly gotten the message that we're looking for nothing fancy in the two new schools. We're looking for something durable, functional and cost-effective. I consider this progress -- enough progress, at least, to warrant a yes vote this time around.

For the levy

I'm voting for the levy this time around. The board has finally taken some steps in communicating with the public vs the pure propaganda in the school newsletters in which 'they do no wrong'.

It's refreshing to see something in the newspapers admitting they have faults, that they realize they're not trusted and they have things to correct. BRAVO! - Admitting you have a problem is the first step to correcting it.

At least it isn't this same crap about North and Central being 'equal'. They seem to have finally turned a corner and are starting to communicate real issues and needs vs typical sound bites.

I didn't think the spineless wonders had it in them but by golly they MIGHT, I stress MIGHT, be listening.

I'm not voting for the board but I'm voting for the need. If there would have been any other name on the last ballot I would have voted for them, but I think this board has at least shown recently real issues that need addressing.
