I was just forwarded an email that Mayor Shaver has sent out to I guess a whole lot of people. Some of those people receiving these emails are very interesting. He is soliciting for campaign contributions for Laura Smith who is running for Probate Judge. He is soliciting contributions from City employees and he is using the city email accounts to do the solicitations.

I am not sure of the legal ramifications of all of this but it sure makes the mayor a hypocrite to accuse Joyce Bushman of doing this and now he is doing the same thing. I heard that he made a big deal out of not wanting city employees running in partisan political races and yet he has no problems using them to give campaign donations for a Judge of all people. I am wondering if Laura Smith the candidate knows how he is raising money for her fund raiser? I am sure she approved of the message.

I would cut and paste the message but the webmasters in the past prohibited partisan political messages on this site. So if the web masters of PATA were sensitive to political messages supporting a candidates and they were afraid they could be considered a PAC then what does that make the City email system? And our Mayor?

So now, hot on the heels of the city manager's admission of pressuring city contractors for contributions to the Blackwell campaign to appease Former President riggs using city email accounts, we now have her ''boss'' also pressuring councilmen and others for money on city email accounts. It's easy to see that the manager's behavior is condoned by her ''boss'' if he is doing the same thing.

Talk about the fox guarding the hen house!! Maybe it's fix guarding the ho house.
