What will the effects of Giant Eagle moving into town be on Kroger? Don't know much about Giant Eagle as a store. Do you think both Kroger stores can remain open despite the competition?

Competition is Good
Competition is good. It will be even better once the Wally World opens up acrosas from the Golden Palace. Whoooo Hooooo. Can you say DOUBLE GREEN STAMPS? Of course, if what you really want is more residential roof tops, then go ahead and protest the opening of a commercial venture in our area. (isn't that what everyone wanted? unless it is in somewhat close proximity to their home) Sure, it's OKAY to have a BigBox store, along as it is across the freeway and in another city. We ELITE Pickerington and Violet TWP snobs don't want those kind of seedy establishments in our area, do we? By Bargain Shopper |

You have missed the point.
Dear Bargain shopper, It seems as though opposition to the big box is crossing party lines as good republicans are lining up to oppose this development, even those democrats on the regional planning commission are against it, something about safety issues how politically incorrect! google ''wal mart blog'' and you will find many local residents who have organized against this, without backing of big money lobbies etc. We do not need a big box every five miles, they should have built the Taylor Square store bigger to meet the need, another big box mistake. |

Giant Eagle
Have never personally shopped there. Been told by a shopper that the produce, bakery, and meat departments are much better than Kroger. I will give it a try and if they are better I will shop there. Kroger seems to have gotten off their hind ends and started their renovation to a Kroger Market Place. Competition is great. |
