Nope, Sorry
The problem isn't the school board. It's the voters. Each failed levy is a testament to the selfishness of Bickerington residents.
You make sacrifices for what's important. Twelve dollars a month was just too much to sacrifice for a community of individuals that thinks nothing of spending $50 a month or more for a lawn care service company. Gotta keep up with the Joneses, don't ya know.
Who cares about education for the kids? Apparently not Bickerington residents.

I give enough already
Maybe it is not the $12.00/month but rather I give enough already to the schools. My school taxation this year will be in excess of $8,000. I do not feel I should have to pay more than that, regardless of perceived smallness of the amount. I provide my fair share and it is more than enough. Sorry about the new folks moving in, but they need to carry their own weight via impact fees.

You've got to be kidding....
Maybe I'm naive but I can't imagine that anyone gets elected because they don't want to listen. Or because they have an ulterior motive to damage our school system. I think they listen - I think the voters want a million things and we don't have the means to satisfy everyone. I think in the end they should be doing what's best for our kids.
If a posting below is right they get paid $160 per month on the high side. I haven't met anyone at a school - mind you I'm only at Violet right now that doesn't have the best interests of the kids at heart. I don't think most people really want to hurt the kids - they may have different ideas about how to get from point A to B. That's where debate should occur not the personal attacks I see here.
At Violet I've seen first hand what portables have done to this school. You say they are fine - I disagree. Kindergarten has gym in a portable & can't jump because it makes the CD skip they are exercising to. Portables are old & need completely replaced - one here is 16 or 17 years old!!
Try explaining to your first grader that bathroom time is scheduled and she has to wait and not to think about it. They have a bathroom ratio to girls of 25:1!
How big is the elementary you propose and how would you get it passed? The teacher's union and Jim Brink both opposed it and it failed miserably. Do you see that as an obstacle to a successful campaign? It failed by 33% yes/ 67% no.
You say, ''Let's forget the past and move on.'' Maybe you're new to this site - that's something that Pickerington isn't capable of.

Impact fees don't help schools
Unfortunately, schools can't impose impact fees (at least not yet). The impact fees collected by the city will fund roads, parks, police, etc.
And, all the new people moving in help to lower your tax bill. Current law says the schools can never collect more than the millage passed by the levy. So, when more houses are built, the schools get more kids but can't collect any more property taxes. Yes, they get the income tax from the new homes, but have to make do with the same millage even with more kids. Hopefully, this will change too.
