Yes, this is late again... but there has not been much in the way of topic fodder lately. However, this morning the following was found in the paper.

Should the Pickerington School Board take notice?

Lancaster Eagle Gazette - June 7, 2006

It's time for school board to resign

To the Editor:

I think it is time someone speak up, demand the resignation of the entire Lancaster City school board, and start fresh with new people. It is obvious to me that the current board, superintendent included, cannot do the job they were hired to do. Some of these people have been on the board as far back as I can remember, maybe even when I was in school in the late '70s. Shutting down North School and Stanbery is one thing, but cramming fifth-graders into the two junior high buildings is pushing it a bit too far. Perhaps if we have a new superintendent, and a new board, then maybe levies and bonds will pass. Then we can have new buildings for our children, and the schools will have the money to work with. How about it Lancaster citizens ... speak up with me, and demand the resignations of the board of education ... we need fresh air in our school system, and we need it now, before our children suffer more then they already have.

They refuse to get it

The Pickerington School Board is either just too ignorant or egotistical to get our message. We are not voting against the kids. We are not voting against the fact that more classroom space is needed. We are not stupid.

We are voting against this school board and administration. Wake up folks - this is a vote of NO CONFIDENCE again and again. Even Randy Hughes and his clan realized that back when the citizen initiatives and referenda passed. They did the right thing for once in their life by either resigning or not running for reelection.

School will be out today. There is now time for you to resign en masse and we can get some new faces that may actually work to restore our trust and confidence. This applies to Thiede and Stemen too. MOVE ON. You gave Barb Geis a new contract. Why? You are now paying her huge salary and benefits for what? NOTHING. She is a lame duck. She sits and collects salary when you openly told her that her services were no longer required. How many other staff members are you doing the same with.

The school board and Theide and Stemen, for starters, need to resign effective tomorrow morning. Then a new team can start with fresh ideas and lead this district back into the leadership position it once held before this district became such an embarrassment.

I am so sick of whiners.

You do realize that Gail and Wes were NOT going to run for re-election correct? Not until the LAST DAY when not ONE OTHER PERSON INCLUDING WHINERS LIKE YOURSELF didn't submit a petition did they have someone go out and collect ALL 25 signatures required to make it on the November ballot!

YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE - YOU CHOSE TO SIT BACK AND BITCH VS SHOWING US ALL THE GREAT AND WONDERFUL IDEAS YOU HAVE TO SOLVE THE SCHOOLS PROBLEMS!

Be part of the solution or shut your pie-hole - telling someone to resign is easy - finding a solution is something entirely different!

And NO I'm not friends with the school board, member of, or anything like that so don't use that sorry reasoning to explain away this posting.

I'm just sick of bitching with no solutions offered.

There is one...

Realist -

I need to point out that the anonymous posters did, in fact, state an opinion and a new course of action.

While I do not wish to put words into anyone's mouth, a call for the school board to resign is both a opinion and a suggestion for change. I too get a little tired of posters on this site complaining but offering little if any suggestions to resolve, but I don?’t think that is the case here.

Besides I firmly believe that desperate times call for desperate measures. Our school district is headed down a dangerous road and we need to do something, anything soon.
