Resident representation
Much as I would love to wait to get the initiative passed spotlighted above, I am impatient by nature so here's what I propose:
1. At least one vote on council recognizes that the game to keep Pickerington out of any possible participation in joint agreements regionally has been exposed along with its conspirators Fix, Riggs, Shaver, Hammond, Smith and Gilleland. We see that good old Mike Arcari has duped (played) all local governments for personal gain ala Daryl Berry and friends in the past. We see that the Bushman/Berry/Gray/Hughes, etc, etc clan has been replace by a more dangerous and greedier legislative body.
2. At least one vote on council recognizes that the initiative will pass, probably at a higher percentage rate than 17, 18 and 19 did a few years ago.
3. At least one vote on council takes the lead to make a proposal that will end all of this.
4. Repeal the economic agreement with the promise that such a biased and unfair proposal will never again reach council floor.
5. Call for legislation forming a city township and pursue it more doggedly than the economic agreement.
6. For the sake of regionalism, which in some cases is not a bad idea, begin active communications with fire departments adjoining the city to cooperate to combine departments, assets and the like and take away the last ties the city has with the township.
As an earlier poster said, we need a Declaration of Independence for this city. Otherwise, we should begin a study to unincorporate ourselves and turn the reins over to Canal, Lancaster and Violet Township to see to our affairs.
To the one vote it will take to start to make this all happen I say ?–
Lead, Follow, or Get the hell out of the way.
