Earlier this year a handful of current and former elected city officials worked to create a change to the city Charter that is bad for the City. On May 8th, you can vote on the this proposed amendment. Here?’s why the majority of council members and other community leaders are urging you to Vote NO on issue 9.
The proposed amendment would tie the hands of your city leaders with regard to annexation and conforming of the boundaries. This is irresponsible and will quite possibly cost you money down the road.
This amendment is bad policy. Not being able to negotiate with other governments would likely exclude Pickerington from some economic development opportunities in the future. The city could lose out on tax revenues from big corporations and will rely on YOU to pay the bills.
The amendment is unnecessary as there is no agreement in place that would give up the city?’s right?’s to annex land or conform the boundaries.
This amendment is unnecessary because the citizens have the rights to overturn and decision Council makes through the referendum process.
This amendment will make any future annexations more expensive. Pickerington?’s Law Director said that if this amendment passes that the (YOU) will have to pay the township reparations for removal of the property. In other words. It will costs you more.
Annexing residential property and conforming the boundaries are really bad ideas that would not only cost you more in taxes it would tear apart our Fire Department and our community. We are ONE community. Defeating this amendment preserves that.
Vote NO on issue 9! Preserve our Community

Garbage In - Garbage Out
The posted information appears to have been written by the same council majority that caused Issue 9 to be created.
Truth is Issue 9 restores the municipal powers the were given away by this same council majority in the their so called ''Master Economic Agreement''
The problem that the council majority has with Issue 9 it will limit their power and only strengthen ours as citizens
I for one have become tired of the council majority and their stories and tales that is meant to only scare us.
I think we the citizens of this community can see through what is going on and welcome the opportunity to Vote Yes on Issue 9 so that we can once and for all let the council majority know where they stand with the people of this community.
People of the community the time is now to stand up against the council majority and put an end to their attempts to sale us down the river or worst yet to the township.

Some truth now
Earlier this year a handful of current and former elected city officials worked to create a change to the city Charter that is bad for the City. On May 8th, you can vote on the this proposed amendment. Here?’s why the majority of council members and other community leaders are urging you to Vote NO on issue 9.
YES; THE GROUP COMPRISED OF OVER THIRTY PEOPLE AND YES THERE WERE SOME CURRENT AND FORMER ELECTED CITY LEADERS IN THE GROUP, BUT THE MAJORITY IN THE GROUP WERE REGULAR CITIZENS AND MORE THAN A HANDFUL. BY THE WAY WHO IS THE MAJORITY OF COUNCIL THAT OPPOSE THIS CHARTER AMENDMENT. IF THIS THE SAME MAJORITY THAT CAUSED ALL OF THIS HEART ACHE TO THE COMMUNTIY? THE SECOND BIG QUESTION IS WHY DID THIS CITIZENS GROUP FORM?
The proposed amendment would tie the hands of your city leaders with regard to annexation and conforming of the boundaries. This is irresponsible and will quite possibly cost you money down the road.
THIS DOES NOTHING TO TIE THE HANDS OF THE CITY LEADERS. IT ONLY PREVENTS THOSE LEADERS FROM GIVING AWAY THESE RIGHTS. CLEARLY THIS MAJORITY OF COUNCIL WANTS TO SOME DAY GIVE AWAY THESE RIGHTS. YOU ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT STAND IN THEIR WAY.
This amendment is bad policy. Not being able to negotiate with other governments would likely exclude Pickerington from some economic development opportunities in the future. The city could lose out on tax revenues from big corporations and will rely on YOU to pay the bills.
WHAT DID I TELL YOU!! THEY FEEL IT IS BAD POLICY TO NOT NEGOTIATE THESE RIGHTS AWAY. THE ONLY WAY THESE PROPOSED JEDDS LOWER OUR TAXES IS TO INCREASE THE ASSESSED VALUE IN THE PLSD. CURRENTLY THE PLSD IS VALUED AT $1,041,657,000 (ASSESED AT OVER $1 BILLION). THAT MEANS EVEN WITH A $ 1OO MILLION PROJECT THE PROPERTY TAXES WOULD ONLY REFLECT A ONE PERCENT POSITIVE CHANGE. THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE LANDS IN THE PLSD THAT WOULD BRING IN THOSE KINDS OF VALUES.
The amendment is unnecessary as there is no agreement in place that would give up the city?’s right?’s to annex land or conform the boundaries.
YES; THIS IS TRUE AND THE ONLY REASON IT IS TRUE IS THAT A CITIZENS GROUP CONSISTING OF MAINLY REGULAR CITIZENS RAN A REFERENDUM ON THE ISSUE. THE COUNCIL MAJORITY IS ABOUT TO RESCIND THAT ORDINANCE WHICH MAKES THIS CHARTER AMENDMENT VERY NECESSARY.
This amendment is unnecessary because the citizens have the rights to overturn and decision Council makes through the referendum process.
THE COUNCIL MAJORITY PASSED THIS POORLY THOUGHT OUT DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWNSHIP GIVING AWAY THE CITY?’S RIGHT TO ANNEX AND TO CONFORM OUR BOUNDARIES AND THE TOWNSHIP MADE A FEW CHANGES AND THOSE CHANGES ARE SITTING ON THE SERVICE COMMITTEE AGENDA WAITING FOR ISSUE 9 TO FAIL. IF IT FAILS YOU WILL SEE EVEN MORE RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON THE CITY OF PICKERINGTON IN THE NAME OF DEVELOPMENT AND LOWER TAXES. THESE GUYS ARE SNAKE OIL SALEMEN. AT LEAST HAVE THEM SHOW YOU THE FIGURES OR THE STUDY THEY ARE QUOTING FROM.

MORE TRUTH
This amendment will make any future annexations more expensive. Pickerington?’s Law Director said that if this amendment passes that the (YOU) will have to pay the township reparations for removal of the property. In other words. It will costs you more.
THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BIG LIE. IF THE CITY WERE TO CONFORM THEIR BOUNDARIES TOMORROW THEY WOULD NOT OWE THE TOWNSHIP ANYTHING. THIS IS THE VERY SAME LIE THEY GOT MRS. HAMMOND TO BELIEVE TO GET HER VOTE. ALL PROPERTIES IN THE CITY WERE ANNEXED PRIOR TO THE NEW LAW GOING INTO EFFECT. EVEN IF THE CITY WERE TO ANNEX NOW AND REMOVE THE PROPERTY FROM THE TOWNSHIP IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN GIVING THE TONWHISP HALF OF THE INCOME TAXES. THE CITY WOULD ONLY OWE THE TOWNSHIP FOR THE ROAD AND BRIDGE LEVY (1.7 MILLS) AND IT IS A DECREASING SCALE FOR UP TO 12 YEARS. THE CITY COULD TAKE IT OUT OF THE $224,000 FROM OUR WHAT PROPERTY OWNERS PAY THE TOWNSHIP EVERY YEAR IN SOME KIND OF ADMINSIRATIVE LEVY. IN COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS 90% OF THE REVENUES COME FROM INCOME TAXES.
Annexing residential property and conforming the boundaries are really bad ideas that would not only cost you more in taxes it would tear apart our Fire Department and our community. We are ONE community. Defeating this amendment preserves that.
HERE WE HAVE A GROUP OF YOUNG KIDS BEING INFLUENCED BY JEFF FIX INTO BELIEVING WE ARE ONE COMMUNITY. WE WILL BE ONE COMMUNITY WHEN WE ALL PAY THE SAME TAX RATE AND NOT THE DISPROPORTIONAL RATES WE PAY NOW BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE TOWNSHIP. WHERE DOES IT SAY IN THIS AMENDMENT THAT WE WILL BE ANNEXING RESIDENTIAL LAND? IT DOESN?’T!! MR. FIX TRULY BELIEVES THAT WE WILL GIVE AWAY OUR RIGHT TO ANNEX RESDINETIAL AND LEAVE FUTURE ZONING AND DVELOPMENT TO THE TOWNSHIP WILL CURE THE PROBLEM OF RESIDENTIAL GROWTH WILL FOREVER BE CURED IN OUR COMMUNITY. IT WILL ONLY BRING IN MORE TRAFFIC FOR OUR OVER CROWED ROADS AND VERY LITTLE REVENUES TO KEEP UP WITH MAKING THE TRAFFIC FLOW SAFER. FOR THESE COMMERICAL DEVLEOPMENTS TO OCCUR IT WILL REQUIRE HUGE SUMS OF MONEY TO PROVIDE THE INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE REVENUE TO PAY OFF THAT DEBT SERVICE WILL BE EXTENDED IN TIME BECAUSE WE ARE SENDING HALF OF THOSE NEW REVENUES OFF TO THE TOWNSHIP AND NOT THE DEBT SERVICE.
Vote NO on issue 9! Preserve our Community
