Where do you stand?
Township Mom: I think your questioning of why you pay $165 per year more than the city residents for trash pickup is very reasonable.
Then it was suggested that the Trustees negotiate a contract with Waste Management or whom ever to get a lower rate. That?’s reasonable.
Then someone brings up a 1996 meeting that was held with the trustees, demanding that the Violet Township trustees not negotiate with a trash hauler because they ALL wanted to have a choice. Now it is turning weird.
Then another person talks about getting a better rate but not as good as the city rate but is very happy with paying higher rates and getting better service and having a choice. That is foolish. Since you didn?’t disagree with the happy with a choice comments then it appears that you are agreeing with paying higher trash rates and having a choice of who hauls your trash.
I think if you look at the way the borders between the city and the township are laid out we could very well have next door neighbors paying two different rates.
So Township Mom do you agree with your neighbors in the township that you are happy with paying higher trash hauling rates because paying those higher rates gives you a choice of who hauls your trash?
