Questions on density issue

Quote of the week

Mayor Postage is quoted in the Times-Sun as saying that ''we were going to slow down housing starts anyway.'' Exactly when was this city council going to slow these housing starts down? I though we made money from all this residential building? If we were going slow housing starts then why did he approve the new budget with TWO NEW BUILDING inspectors in it.

Lou baby I believe everything you have ever told us but this one I am having trouble with. Please tell us how you planned to slow the housing starts. Is it with impact fees? You are going to get the BIA to agree to impact fees when they are now trying to sue us over, lets see Oh, controlling the growth rate? If you are going to control the growth rate then why does your 2003 city budget plan on 350 more homes?

Lou; talk's cheap and you seem to have a lot of it now. Action is what counts. Your actions and the actions of this city council are making you look like a lair.
There was good too....

While I agree they are talking the talk of slowing growth & not walking the walk. I believe this is the article in the Pickerington Times Sun is the first time I have seen or heard that they would actually consider & implement Impact Fee's.

This is a HUGE step & one we need to stay on top of until it's reality.
Election Year

Do you really think there will be anything significant coming out of city hall in relation to impact fees? I highly doubt it will be impact fees going to the school district though. It does bring up an interesting point though - when is the township going to assess impact fees?

This is an election year and Lou and others need to make it appear as though they are doing the will of the people so they don't get canned in November, hence the quotes on slowing growth, impact fees, etc.

I'm surprised they are starting this early on it though since they might actually have to act on something prior to the election. Empty promises are better made 3-4 months out from the election so they gain the appearance of being credible without having to really act on it.

By Curious George
You will know it is an election

Three years ago Lou was talking about the water tower and the fact that we didn't need to worry about running out of water and let our grass die that summer. I think that is the year (1999) my grass died out completely because I couldn't afford to pay the water bills. It was cheaper to re-plant the grass the next spring.

In 2001 they re done the Hill Road North section and proudly displayed two signs one by the rail line and the other by the just north of the exit from the High School. All the councilmen were named on one of those ''Your Tax Dollars at work'' signs much larger than they would allow others in business to place along the road. If you are a candidate and you want a large sign you must go to Joyce Bushman for a permit. You must pay an application fee also. Yet those incumbants in 2001 got advertisement paid for by the taxpayers.

Please NO ONE be tricked by this crap. Lou and company has no intention now or forever to control residential growth. They have a moritorium ordinance that has sit in committee for months now with no movement. It will sit there until we get new council people elected to do something with it. Lou hasn't changed it is just an election year.
