Loser
Dear Anon,
If you think this action last night will raise the value of your existing home you are very mistaking. This does not raise the sale price of even these new homes. It only adds a burden on their payments of these new homes. If they over burden the schools with school children and we can never pass a future school levy then none of our homes are worth much. There are for sales signs popping up all over town. WHY?
People wanting to leave because the schools are about to make some real big cuts. Why because the city won't control growth. Why because those that have been in office for years now have lead us all into this swamp.

Mortgage Buys Downs
Dear Mortgage Broker
You asked the question why buy a Community Authority home in the City of Pickerington if it has a 10 mil additional assessment on it?
I guess you have not been a mortgage broker very long because for years now builders have bought mortgage interest rates down for up to 4 maybe 6 year to ''help'' marginal buyers qualify to purchase a new home. So if you go into M/I or one of the other big builders selling new homes here in Pickerington they certainly will offer buy down loans. For every interest point they buy down on a $200,000 that saves the buyer over $167 per month in their mortgage payment. I have heard buy downs as high as 3 %. You do the math.
M/I is also offering a 10 year interest only loan. These builders have also been qualifying buyers with current taxes on the (lot taxes) property. Which means after about two or three years the owner is then taxed for the FULL value of the new home, which on a $200,000 home that could raise the monthly tax bill by $200 to $300 per month.
Stop and think just for a moment. The township has a minimum lot size of 20,000 square feet. Nearly a half acre. Can these buyers that are buying homes in the city qualify for the mortgages that will accompany those homes out in the township? I think not. FHA and VA loans have their limits and it certainly isn't what Donley and other township builders are looking for.
Most young people that are buying homes in the City are looking at the monthly payment. I do not believe the buyers in the Township are hung up on the monthy payment but the over all cost of the homes and their quality. Township buyers will be required to place 10 or even 20% down. I believe there are two different markets here within our school district.
The city council is setting the ENTIRE community up for a great let down in a few years with the school district crumbly because of a non-exsiting tax base. Yes it will affect everyone including those living in the township that think they are isolated from the problem because of where they live. Please think what you did when you were young and looking for that starter home. Did your income ever catch up with the payments if you had got all of these discounts to purchase? Mine certainly didn't.

Not a Whitehall Wannabe....
Maybe the problem is with the amount of starter homes being built in the City & the quality of them.
There is a Swing Set in Sheffield subdivision in a Front Yard - why?? That's the only spot on the lot big enough !! There is also a fence going up on the corner of Wright & Diley that looks like it belongs next to a freeway - Does that place have any deed restrictions or does the City require none?
I think the fact that there is no land use plan to coordinate low end, middle of the road & high end housing across the School District is a problem - oh & I forgot Commercial Developmeent - last time I looked you need that too......
The cart is definately before the horse here - we need to take a deep breath & create a plan - the best option we have for that is Ted Hackworth's Growth Plan petition being circulated now.
Ted - can you post how to get in contact with a carrier to sign this petition & the recall petitions. I think people are ready to come to you.

No, it wasn't!!
Down and out. You mean I got screwed and I didn't even enjoy it??!?! PLUS, I didn't even get a smoke out of the deal?
I'm not gonna move to Cuba just yet. I want to see how this all plays out.
I have another question. Besides Dave Shaver, does any of the other council members have children in Pickerington schools??
