Hickory Lakes - a good thing?

Posted in: PATA
I'm not 100% sure I understand why people are against the City purchasing Hickory Lakes. I assume it has to do with being tied to water & sewer expansion. If that is inevitable, why not support the Hickory Lakes purchase? This sounds like a wonderful opportunity to get some parks and greenspace that would significantly benefit the community.

While I understand the reason people don't want the sewer expansion, let's not pass up a great opportunity. If the city doesn't buy this asset, who will? And, what will they do with it? I bet it involves houses, or apartments, or condos...

Why ask why?

I know this sounds appealing, but...

Stop the sewer expansion and you stop the homebuilders. When has the community benefited from a Bushman (Bushwhacker) deal?

Answer: Never! Not Once... Ever!!!

It's all about continuing the perpetual ''building-out'' of the school district; large landowners cashing in on what they think are their million dollar entitlements (at our expense).

No one wins with a sewer expansion. No one wins with our schools flooded with new kids. You have to draw the line somewhere. This is break point.

At least in the township they can't snooker the residents with emergency rezoning. I believe the ENTIRE township will pounce on any rezoning in the future, so Hickory Lakes is a moot point. The latest plat approvals by V.T. were already a done deal; less than 2 homes per in most cases. You don't see any new attempts to ram through any new rezoning simply because of the climate. Pickerington is setting a new standard in community involvement. Yes, we have a higher median income, but we are certainly going to protect our incomes and our schools - plain and simple - politicians beware!

The real question is will 1,400+ residents sign a petition to stop a rezoning of Hickory Lakes?

Answer: Well Heck Yeah We Will !!! We Ain't Stupid !!!
Question?

Still kinda new at all this. Can we stop the sewer expansion? Or are we going to have to get another petition going to stop that too?
As I understand this, we really don't need this sewer expansion. But by expanding it, in order to justify, the city has to build more houses. And what is the real reason for the expansion??

Ask yourself this

Ask yourself who was behind bold moves such as this in the past. Ask who always benefits from ''deals'' like this. Ask yourself who has a blueprint that has 140-150 condos AND Hickory Lakes on it.

See if the answer is Daryl ''Condo-man'' Berry.
