Two questions were asked of me today. They were: ''Why did Mark Uher threaten to get Bruce Rigelman fired for asking these questions? Why did Mark Uher threaten to boycott Gail Oakes' business for asking these questions?''
Please do not ever associate my name with those questions again. I am perfectly capable of speaking for myself and asking my own questions.
In fact, both facts were absolutely false.
First, I have never ever advocated Rigelman being fired. On August 27, 2000 at 4:09 p.m. from Rigelman's Bank One e-mail system, Rigelman e-mailed Eric Erickson and commented, ''Finally, the tables (interest rates) appear to be filled with mistakes. I thought you were an honest man. I am starting to think that I was mistaken. '' On August 29, 2000 at 9:30 a.m., again from Bank One's e-mail system, Rigelman commented to Fifth Third, ''I think you would do well not to underestimate my anger over this. I am prepared to make a motion this evening dispensing your services.''
I obtained this information under the Ohio's Open Records Act. For clarification purposes, I asked Bank One officials if Rigelman's opinion reflected Bank One's position, if Bank One was a competitor of Fifth Third in this type of business, and if Rigelman possessed special skills to analyze interest rates tables. Bank One was outstanding, indicating Rigelman's opinion did not reflect Bank One's official position, Bank One was not a competitor of Fifth Third in this business line in Ohio (was in Michigan) and Rigelman did not possess the necessary skills to analyze the interest rates tables. Matter dropped three years ago!!
In terms of boycotting Office Solution, that is a boldface lie. While I have little respect for Gail's political agenda, I have tremendous respect for Office Solutions and Dan Oakes. Office Solutions has been an OUTSTANDING CORPORATE CITIZEN in our community donating thousands to help our schools and library. While on the Executive Committee of the Glenshire Civic Association, we always approved our newsletter being printed by Office Solutions and were delighted with their service. On August 12, 2002 in a meeting with Monhollen & Stemen in preparing for the fall levy, I proposed we pay Office Solutions $500 to print the letterhead for the levy. Monhollen disagreed and decided to have Norm print the letterhead, decided to let Gail donate the signs, and upped the sign order from my proposal of 1500 signs for $2500 to 2500 signs for $3500. Monhollen indicated Oakes would do it for $3500. Once again, I have always had nothing but praise for Office Solutions and their generous contributions to our schools and our community. Thank you Office Solutions.
Please let me speak for myself ?… I am capable of doing so.
