P.S. The press and the letters to the editors have been awful to you and the board majority over the last year. Maybe you should tell ALL of YOUR SUPPORTERS to attend tomorrow's board meeting and defend yours and Oakes' integrity and record of 'accomplishment.' Bob, Lisa, Dave, Mitch, Mary, Mike, Bill and Brian (sorry I left out Dr. Pepper or did I?) may want to speak up, now that your 'record' is being tarnished. [end]
Mark,
If I am not the Mitch you referred to, sorry about horning in. Having not been in Ohio much over the last few months, I figured that I might have disappeared of everyone?’s radar screens. I haven?’t been able to keep up with all that is happening around town. However, reading the discussion forum here keeps me abreast of the highlights. Let me apologize for not reading your postings thoroughly but you have to admit they get pretty repetitive so I cannot always tell one from another.
Are you accusing me of supporting Dr. Rigelman and Mrs. Oakes?’ integrity and accomplishments? Well, then I stand guilty as accused! I will tell you straight up that I am proud to name these two as friends. They are both honorable and ethical people and I respect their accomplishments tremendously. I am also pleased to be associated with the group of supporters you mention as there is probably no more dedicated group towards reversing the decline of our community. Thanks for associating me with this austere assemblage.
Mark, I hope you don?’t think I blindly follow this ?“support group?” or these school board members. Please don?’t think I agree with everything they say and do. There have been times that I have vehemently disagreed with a decision they made. But rather than relentlessly demean them in a forum such as this, I thought it would be better to first approach them and discuss my concerns. In nearly every instance they were able to allay my concerns and I never had to resort to the tactics you often display here. In the instances where they couldn?’t, I had to agree that they are elected to make the hard and unpopular decisions, not just the easy ones. That goes for all the board members, not just them.
I would have offered you the same one on one but I was out of town and not able to attend the meeting of the Republican Club of NW Fairfield County last month. Were you there? I know your schedule did not permit you to attend many meetings after you joined last year but I had hoped you might have the chance to become more involved this year. It seems to be the only place our paths ever crossed.
Don?’t worry Mark ?– if Dr. Rigelman and Mrs. Oakes feel their record is being tarnished, their loyal ?“support group?” is standing by with plenty of Brasso to polish it back up :-). However, if they think as I do, their record is still pretty impressive and we don?’t have much to worry about.
