Republican Club Endorsements

Endorsements

This may also come as a shock to you Mark, but you are not a member of the Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County. You haven?’t been a member since last December. Maybe that is why you didn?’t find out about the club?’s endorsements until Labor Day. If you had been an active member you may have had the opportunity to speak out against early endorsements, many members did. The fact is the club has been endorsing candidates all summer. Where were you? Oh that?’s right spreading lies around the district about the school levy.

The fact that candidates had not filed his or her nominating petition prior to being endorsed is not back room politics. Clearly these endorsements were made by the entire club in clear public view and not a small group in a darkened hallway. Maybe during the next election cycle more candidates will step forward and make them selves available to the club?’s endorsement procedure. We are such a small little group I wonder why you would even be concerned with us.

The club can endorse anyone they like. As long as The Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County takes credit for it and not the ?“REPUBLICAN?” endorsed candidates then there is nothing wrong with our club endorsing anyone they see fit to endorse. For all you know Mark we may have endorsed the 2005 candidates already.

I am certainly glad that you had nothing more to do on Labor Day than to be reading old issues of the Times-Sun. Lisa Reade presents a problem to you and your cronies up north. She is smart and she truly understands the problems and their root causes here in Pickerington. I am sure she will support future levies but she also has been one of the few candidates that has stood before this Pickerington City Council and tried to convince them to slow the growth. Your absence has been duly noted. I know of only one other candidate for school board to speak before the council and that is Jim Brink. Both of these candidates are endorsed by the Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County.

The district finances are heading into the dumper because of your Ohio Chamber of Commerce influence and your total support of the local building industry. Your candidates (Wes Monhollen, Larry Sigman and Lori Sanders) only solution of endless levy campaigns must change. We are the highest taxed school district in Fairfield County and we are still on the verge of bankruptcy. The $6 million levy passed last month will be lucky to last until next summer. Your continued support for these builders and those currently in charge down on Lockville Road shows your total disregard for fixing the school system. It is more about Mark Uher and his livelihood.

For the record let me remind everyone the candidates endorsed so far:

Gary Weltlich Township Trustee

David Shaver Pickerington Mayor

Lisa Reade Pickerington School Board
Jim Brink Pickerington School Board

Heidi Riggs Pickerington City Council

Ted Hackworth Pickerington City Council

Brian Wisniewski Pickerington City Council

Pat Harris Municipal Judge

David Trimmer Municipal Judge

filing dates

Mark

On a posting down below you indicated that Lisa Reade had filed as a candidate for Pickerington School Board by August 18th and she was endorsed by the NW club on August 26th. That dosen't indicate to me that this club endorsed before the candidate Reade filed. It seems you also stated that the filing dead line was August 22nd. Gee you were just full of mistakes that day.

Maybe if you only did your home work you would state more facts instead of your personal opinion.
For the Record

A couple of quick phone calls found the following:

Lisa Reade filed with the Board of Elections for the PLSD School Board Race on August 13th.

She then was interviewed by the Screening Committee of the Republican Club of Northwest Fairfield County on August 21st for the purpose of obtaining their endorsement.

This was brought before the Republican Club's membership & voted on August 26th. David Trimmer & Brian Wisniewski were also endorsed at that same meeting.

Lisa is one of the founding members of CommUNITY 1st - one of seven community leaders that organized that group. There is no official leader of this group - a steering committee controls it.

Lisa is also one of the organizers that got Issue 16 on this fall's ballot. This will allow the City Residents to decide if they want to approve the PR4 High Density Housing for 316 acres that sit at Amanda Northern & Busey Rds. that Council approved just prior to last November's Election or to vote ''NO'' and have that acreage revert to 2 units per acre. She has done more than talk about slow growth - she has worked to make it happen & it wasn't ''behind the scenes''.

Another Fact

Wasn't Mr. Postage President of Council at the time of the high density zoning vote on the 316 acres?

How did Mr. Postage ''We wanted to slow growth down anyway....'' vote on this issue?
