You would probably have more luck meeting Ken Newell at a Lakes of River Trails Meeting. That is his neighborhood.  He does not attend River Trails Meetings.

Heck, he usually does not attend his own meetings.

What changes do you speak of with regards to COPS? Tell me...what positive change could I possibly make to please you all???  LOL  You all crack me up.

Melissa,  you sound like your program has no faults and when asked to make improvements,  we make you laugh.   Personally,  I think it's great that our neighborhood has a COP program made up of volunteers and I am glad that  improvement was made when a certain gentleman stepped down from OUR neighborhood program.  That was a true accomplishment.   Another improvement would be to make sure every COP participant carries identification because they don't and they need to.   And whatever vehicle they drive,  needs to have the proper identification as well.   Other than that,  I think you are doing a fine job of patrolling our neighborhood and thank you.

COPS is not a benefit of being part of the HOA.

Why?  Perhaps this would be another improvement to the program?  An extra fee to cover COPS cost for badges,  vehicle ID's,  walkie-talkies.  I don't have a problem paying extra to have citizens patrol in my neighborhood.  We have a lot of crime and this is a postitive way to try and deplete it.   I think the Crime/Safety picnic is a great idea and I hope many of our residents come out and meet each other.  Would also be nice if those on the COP program would introduce themselves.

Have you tried just calling Ken directly?  His office is located at the corner of Trammel Davis and Precinct Line. It may be as easy as just stopping by and visiting with him.

I don't think one voice is enough to resolve a couple of issues we have in this neighborhood.  I was hoping that he would accept the HOA's invite to attend our meeting but I suppose that is not going to happen.   Perhaps those who share the same concerns would join me in making an appointment with Mr. Newell to discuss.

Two issues that concern me:   ATV riding in the woods and the Ponds.   Both of which Mr. Newell can respond too and perhaps be willing to listen compromise.

Sign me up TCB I'm in!!!  I have never been one to use others to speak for me, I am perfectly capable of doing this on my own, but you are exactly right about more than one person needing to speak up.  I personally feel if the HOA is involved the strings attached to their heads that are till controlled by Ken will still just smile and nod with the answer they feel pleases him,  just like the did in 2000 when the proposal was made to continue with the plans to run River Trails  Blvd all the way through to Trinity!  The  gentlemen and two ladies that are heirs to the old horse farm (the hill that divides us from the lakes 2) refused to sell to Ken, he wanted to zone it a city park and give them 1/4 of what it was worth, now they have their property and their mineral rights,  HOA just did and said whatever he wanted!  He still owns the business park on 820 it used to be called Newell and Newell,  ask why it's a different name now!  He won't show, and I doubt he'll schedule a meeting!  And as for the perve who video tapes kids entering the  playground isn't that disgusting!!! I would like to see the Lakes contract with Ken,  they are non-profit all there records have to be made public if requested, even the  minutes from their meetings!  That Melissa is a fact, research it if you don't believe me!  TCB  Let me know when you want to meet with Ken or when he is "Available"  I make my schedule work with yours, his, whoever.  I really want to know when he's going to clean his mess behind my house!

The next RTHA meeting will be September 8th at 6:30pm at River Trails Elementary Cafeteria. Complimentary dinner will be at 6:30 with meeting beginning at 7pm.

Annual RTHA reports and officer elections take place at this meeting.

We waited to post this information until we confirmed the location reservation with the school district. We have invited Mr. Newell and members of the Lakes of River Trails board to the meeting but have not recieved an answer at this time.
