Hello Melissa,

Would you please explain what "special details in the neighborhood" means?  Also,  does our HOA plan to hold a meeting soon to discuss neighborhood issues?

Glad to know that there will be increased partrols in our area....would that be law enforcement?  When do they plan to start because I am not seeing them patroling more often right now?  I was home for two days and never even saw 1 patrol car.  I just dont want to hear that the FWPD plan to do something,  I would like to see it start happening.   I think the HOA should hold a neighborhood meeting for all residents including the LORT residents and invite our NPO - Mr. Choyce  to discuss resolutions and put plans in action to prevent further crime in the neighborhood if at all possible!

MM, good to hear you have the same feelings as us commoners  Smile, but lip service from the PD to you or anybody else doesn't stop the problems. I'm not monitoring the traffic 24/7, but I haven't seen these increased patrols either. Perhaps they're being honest with you and have increased from 1 drive thru per month to 2? In my contact with Mr. Choyce, he too seems more concerned with the woods/swamps than the paved areas.

I have seen two patrols this week...both times, they've turned off Tyne, onto Perdido, then River Trails, and I assume out of the neighborhood after that  (I was out walking on Perdido both times and stopped to see where they cops went).  I couldn't believe they didn't patrol on any of the side streets around.

The first occurred last Sunday around 5:15 pm, and the second time occurred this past Monday around 8:30 am

A detail is like a sting. PD assigns one or more units to a specific area to prevent or catch criminals.

They will come out in daytime hours to pull people over that are driving thru the neighborhood with no apparent destination and other reasons that raise suspicion. Confirm rather they belong or not and find out what they are up to.

An increased presence as well.  I saw them twice between 10 am and 1 pm today.  I get the dispatch reports so, I will see if patrols are increased. They have to call into dispatch everytime they make an extra patrol.  I also expect to get a report on the detail.

I heard from a crime scene analyst that they got a hit on a burglary suspect that may have been responsible for several burglary/thefts in the area. The individual has a burglary and theft rap sheet a mile long. I'm waiting on confirmation but, we have seen a decrease since. However, where there's one caught, there's always others to take up the slack. So, keep your guards up.

A little tip...If you are a victim of home invasion DEMAND A CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION. If an officer does not comply ask to speak to the staff seargent. Be sure to get a CSI. Fingerprints will allow a crime scene analyst to identify what thye refer to as webbing. This assists in identifying and catching a suspect. It also helps with creating a string of charges if they get a hit and make an arrest.
