I have seen several of these posts where witnesses have gotten license plate #s from these thieves--How hard can it be for the police to catch these guys if they have their license plate #? 

There are several factors that play into this.  The car could be a stolen vehicle.  The plates could be stolen.  The car is not registered to the actor.  The plates number given could be wrong or missing a character, etc.

Nine out of ten times, the car does not usually belong to the actors.

Woa nelly...so we have a rouge group of unemployed actors busting down doors ? Thats crazy. Explains why they are soo good at 'acting' like magazine sellers.
