Hi Melissa.  I have a tried and proven plan.  Let technology get everyone involved in both events right away.  No need to wait.  Start your yard sale as you guys gather the things.  Sell as you gather.  With a website and a digital camera you can start selling across the street or across town.    

Post photos and descriptions of your items on a website.  The buy can browse 24/7.

List times to show the merchandise.  Give a number for contact.  Or give a name or code name and the viewer will know who to contact if you choose not to list a personal phone number.   

Make the tranaction convenient for the seller and the buyer.  This helps each seller to move the stuff quicker.  The seller afterall usually is wanting to get rid of things that are taking up storage space.     

We started doing something similiar to this a few months ago.  Its working out fine.  It is a good way to clean out closets and garages, and help someone else in the process.      

Thanks for sharing.  I'm glad it's been a great success for you. It is a great way to sell items. I have some friends that actually make a living off of it. 

For me personally, I just don't have the time to take pictures, create catchy descriptions, field calls and show the items. It's easier for me to set it all out on one day and just get it over with.  The community garage sale will attract a lot of people. We should all do very well.

For those that do have time, you might explore this option as an alternative.

There must be a great demand for yard sale goodies if families are making a living from it.  I just might explore this garage sale thing a little more in debth on-line.  Life is like a box of chocolates, huh.  I'll check back to see how your sale goes.  Bea
