Von,  what you said is negative too.  Candy is not going to cause a problem.  If you read her posts - her children are grown.  She didn't say the teachers or leaders were doing a bad job.  What she was saying is - she would walk her children to school if she wanted too.  That is her parental right.  Not the schools.  What kind of message are we sending here by the school telling parents what they can and can not do?  When you think about it,  we pay their salaries so actually they work for us - to teach our children - not to parent them.  I am the parent here.   I find the "new" process a little severe myself.  I always walked my children to their classrooms.  Why?  Because they wanted me to and because I wanted too.  You only have such a few short years to spend with them when they are young,  what does it hurt walking them to their class.  Eventually,  they will ask you not to walk them anymore.  Until that time,  I walked mine and loved it and it is my parental right.   I do not believe a school legally has the authority to tell parents they are not allowed in a public facility.  They can mandate the parents leave before the bell rings and I agree parents should.....but a school can not refuse a parent entrance into a public school.  That's for private schools and you know this when you sign the contract to pay for your child to go there.    Go ask a laywer.    Police can not refuse or get involved with this new rule or you will find Rivertrails on NBC.

The school CAN limit access to school hallways as a security issue either for safety, testing, or because the halls are overcrowded.  I am so tired of people throwing the taxpayer card.  So what, you pay taxes.  So does everyone else including the teachers who work there. I would rather them limit my access as a parent and keep someone who doesn't belong there out than see River Trails on NBC as you said because a child was kidnapped or assaulted on campus. Again, have you armchair quarterbacks ever walked your happy selves into the office and just asked?  No, you would rather claim you are a taxpayer, caring parent, whatever card you throw than actually find the answer.  Why don't you take the time to ask questions or actually find out the case law about access in public schools.  The book is called "The Educators Guide to Texas School Law".  This is the bible for most school administrators concerning legal issues.  And yes, a parent can be removed by the police fo causing a disruption on campus.

Wow, that took me sixteen minutes to find the answer.  When you people are ready to listen and not be "taxpayers, parents, etc." I'll let you know the answer and the Texas Education Code laws governing school access.
