Laurie,  my kids have been going there from the day they opened until now and I have never received a survey.  Why?  I dont know.  I have walked my first child to her class every day from 1st grade to 6th.  I have walked my second child because they wanted me too until they told me they  didn't want me to anymore.  Believe me,  it is great to drop them off at the sidewalk now.  But it is my choice as a parent to decide whether or not I walk them to class - not the schools.  If there are other parents hanging around in the halls - address them - not those who leave promptly before the bell rings.   I have never seen children running around chaotic in the hallways.  They are usually with the parents walking them to class.  You know as well as I do, they dont let you run around in the halls.  They have hall monitors that prevent that from happening.  The kids can't even get rowdy or talk loud in the cafetaria or gym.  I know,  I have been there.   Maybe not a big deal to you - so be it - but again it is to me as a parent and it is to my child.   Obviously you have a complaint about extended day care.  Mine do not attend so I do not have an opinion.  Again,  you are a parent and what you see as a concern is your own right - same as mine.  Don't take away privledges to those who are obeying the rules because there are other parents who don't.  Fix the traffic problem outside and leave parenting to parents.

My daughter attended RTE from the day they opened until last year.  Now my oldest son is in his 4th year there.  Every year we have received a survey in both of their Moose binders, towards the end of the year, and we've filled them out and returned them.  It asks you questions about how you feel regarding the level of safety at the school, the level of discipline, how things are managed/handled, stuff like that.  I've never reported any complaints on this survey, I think the school is handling things to the best of their ability, the school is limited on what they can do.

Thankfully, my son doesnt have to attend extended day any more.  He did for a short while and absolutely hated it because there was no control.

I havent walked my kids to their classroom for the last couple of years. They walk to school with their friends and I stand in my yard and watch them until they enter the school.  So it may have calmed down since the last time I walked them to class.  But I do recall it being quite chaotic the last time I was in there.  I do know (from what my son tells me) they are cracking down quite a bit on the 'rowdiness' of the kids.  But when you have that many kids in such a small place, the Staff needs some level of control over them.

I dont see a problem with them allowing the parents to walk the kids to class, if that is what they do and promptly leave like you do.  But apparently that's not what 'all' of the parents are doing.  You know the saying " One bad apple spoils the whole bunch".  This may be the case.  You may not be one of the parents they are referring to, but you are getting priviledges taken way because of what other parents have done.  This happens to the kids every day.  One kid in the class misbehaves and there fore the whole class has to sit thru a silent lunch.  I know it stinks, but this is the only way the school can address the issue.

Thanks Laurie.  Sorry to hear about the extended day program.  Guess it hasn't changed much?  I agree about the bad apple comment.  It does stink.  Oh well,  only one month to go and then onto sleep overs and X-Box.  Laughing

I did have kids go through RT.  I care because I don't want our kids in the neighborhood harmed.  I care because I am a taxpayer.  I care because teachers have a hard enough time teaching students whose parents coddle to them instead of supporting teachers in the quest to reach every child.  Chapter 8 deals with the saety and security of schools and campuses.  That means the hallways and everything involved on campus.  Do your own research and ask questions.

I resent your remark about me talking negative about our kids.  I have never said anything on here about the kids in our neighborhood.  Oh except for the young man who thought it necessary to speed down the road and act a fool.  Yeah okay. His parents took care of that.  I just informed them of the incident.

And by the way in two years I will have another "dog in the fight" as you said at River Trails and the school is in OUR neighborhood so it concerns ALL of US.

Anytime you want to sit down and discuss school law and procedures like an adult let me know.
