Reality vs Idealism

The reality is that not all B & B's are created equal. I live next to a B & B and it's working out OK but I do NOT want any more traffic, parties and people cooking in the rooms. Now people come, check in, leave to sight see during the day, EAT LUNCH & DINNER some where else, and return to rest. There's not alot of coming and going. With a loosning
of the ordinance I think a can of worms could be opened.

The defense about how everybody else does it is ridiculous. Key West?
HELLO ! That's all tourism t-shirt
junk. Conventioneers? Let them stay at the Hilton- they tend to be on junkets and drink, etc. too much.

This boils down to the rights of homewoners to live in a RESIDENTIAL area in peace without too much COMMERCIAL intrusion.
You, as a business owner, have no right to infringe on my rights as a homeowner.

Would NS have supported B & Bs in the neighborhood if they had anticipated that you would want to
expand into totally commercial services? I think not. The idea was to have nice renovations with QUIET places for QUIET tourists to stay while visiting our area.

I can see your florists trucks, caterer's trucks, and other delivery trucks pulling up in front of my place now. That's just not right.

B & B owners have no inherent right to make a profit by expanding their
business by changing laws. If you can't get along on what you tried, then you are unfortunately another small business which has failed.
Welcome to the real business world.

Good Point

Good Point Susan. North Shore is to dense for more actvity at it's B & B's.
The neighborhood is over run with cars, traffic and just human density as it is. Please prevent any increased use of these businesses in our residential neighborhood, other for that for which they were originally intended.
Weddings

No weddings near me please. No offense Dave but you need a reality check. Yea, weddings are happy, festive occasions but what resident wants a wedding next door or even in their block several times a year?
Think about this. Weddings are usually noisy, crowded, and not time specific as to when they end. This type of activity belongs at the Pier or somewhere else. Dave talk to the new Pier management about weddings--- you can have the parents of the bride stay with you and hold the ceeremony or reception at the Pier or one of your buddies at a local hotel licensed to hold these events --- not near my house.

Reply to Anonymous???

Dear Anonymous,
It is readily apparent that you have no concept of what B&B's are all about and what it takes to operate them. You have no idea how strict the regulations are, both city and state, especially about cooking in the rooms and your misinformation is being strewn to your neighbors without being true. There is no lunch and dinner served at these inns, the state regs prohibit this. Regardless of your attitude for tourism, this city survives on it and it should be used propely for yours and our preservation! You are upset because a truck is going to pull up in front of a B&B and deliver flowers?? Do you flash off these messages to the Vinoy hotel or the city when their functions over run the NS neighborhood with parking? I think not. As far as the parking is concerned, there are plans by each B&B that will not interrupt the traffic flow in the neighborhood. The B&Bs' are doing everything to HELP THE NEIGHBORHOOD as much as possible. Lastly, I would love for you to identify yourself. I know the ''anonymous'' tag was put there for a reason, but it takes a lot more to stand up for what you believe in and put your name on it!
