Towne Lake Garden Association

A New Website ?

Posted in: Towne Lake Garden

Since May 29th 2004 this website has been the communication outlet for the Towne Lake Garden Community. This website is absolutely free and is sponsored by www.neighborhoodlink.com   Discussions, information, and usually anything of importance to our neighbors of Towne Lake have been posted here for all to see.

Communication has always been the key to the success of this site.

Soon the management company will be creating a replacement site and will be online.

This is not the first time a management company has created a site for our neighborhood but they usually tried to ask for a fee. It is unknown whether this management company will be asking for a fee to post their site but given the choice, this site has always been free

I can only postulate that given the amount of hits that this site receives it was bound to attract attention of those that would want to profit from it's success.

As webmaster, I have strived to maintain a neutral posture in maintaining this site. I do not even mention some issues that are pretty serious here in Towne Lake, yet I have declined  because of a percieved conflict of interest.

This site will continue as long our residents and interested fans continue to "hit" on us.

As always: Communication is Community

Thanks for all your hard work in the past, and hopefully in the future . This site is the very best around and continues to be a positive outlet for current events in the neighborhood.  Let the management co. do what they are supposed to and leave the rest to the owners.

Maybe you should wait to see if the mgmt. co. will be charging for the forum on their website before you post about the possibility of moving this one. After that, I think it would be up to the BOD and you whether or not you want to charge over to it. Personally, it seems that we change mgmt. companies often enough that changing URLs each time might a PITA for the residents who use the forum to post.

As to your remaining neutral out here, if you're a resident of Towne Lake, I think you should feel free to comment when you see fit -- especially given the fact that when the rest of us do, we're either told to shut up, stop complaining, or attend a board meeting. Why not spread the love around?

From what I understood at the annual meeting, they are getting away from this site because people "get negative". I guess whomever decided to get rid of this site wants to be able to filter info that is put out.

I guess either the board or HOA does not believe in free speech.

Thing is, even if they close this site, people can start another one that we can be negative on if we want.
