Toll Road at Slaughter and Mopac
It sounds as if even if we win the No Toll Road at William Cannon, they are still going to toll at Slaughter. What do you know about this? Are we going to have all Mopac traffic at a stand still at Mopac and Slaughter?

Loop1/Slaughter&Lacross overpass
From an earlier conversation with Ed Collins, he presented the road as one that would come to slaughter/mopac. But, after I got this clarified a day later, I feel he was not trying to deceive me, but presenting the Toll as an easy access from slaughter/mopac.
The toll at william cannon overpass is only 1.5 miles long. Maybe the world's shortest toll road?
Ed Collins of TXdot told me $'s collected from the Toll Roads are planned to go to a Loop1/Slaughter and Loop1/Lacross overpass. That will cause serious noise concerns for Circle C residents on the East side of Circle C. If we accept William Cannon overpass as a Toll, I believe it's more likely we'll get more tolls, and unwanted overpasses that will effect home values in Circle C.

Issues of loads & timing
As SW Austin continues to grow, yes that intersection will get worse. Please do ponder the number of people traveling outbound that turn left at William Cannon, the fact that only one lane is fully dedicated to straight outbound traffic at William Cannon, and that much of the remaining traffic exits Davis or turns right at Slaughter. So, right now Slaughter will not immediately replicate the William Cannon experience (in my view). Also, South 45 may handle some of the new area's traffic. If you have plenty of money, strongly favor rapid roadway capacity construction, and are not concerned by the precedent of siezing tax funded roads for tolls, well obviously anyone has the right to oppose any change to the toll plan. It is anyone's guess what the implications of successfully exempting 290 to William Cannon/Slaughter from tolls will have on any impending plans to upgrade and toll Mopac over (I have also heard under) and south of Slaughter. Some feel that is makes sense that toll revenue from S. Mopac would accelerate those plans. That may be so, but I do not know that absolutely.

Ken Rigsbee says NO to WC TOLL
''Ken Rigsbee, a long-time Circle C Ranch resident, said he opposes the Toll lanes on MoPac that will go over the new bridge now being built across William Cannon because that was supposed to be a free project paid for by the state (with our tax dollars).''
